So many iconic Pelosi moments- ACA, IRA, ARRA, the '06 and '18 midterms... but for me it's the night of 1/6/21.

We were waiting to see how many days until they could return to the Capitol to finish certifying the election.

She told us, "tonight." I still tear up thinking about how that felt.

US history and political discourse focus on presidents, but Congress is the heart of our democratic system.

Nancy Pelosi is in the first rank of American leaders, plenty of presidents never matched her achievements or political skill.

She’s one of a kind, a towering figure with a tremendous legacy

Pretty clear now that generic ballot polling in 2025 is mostly off.

NJ and VA electorates were 8-10 points left of 2024 (R+2) with robust off year turnout.

Suggests a generic ballot environment favoring Dems by mid/high single digits, which, credit to them, is what NBC, CNN, and Quinnipiac have.

Historical perspective on Virginia election results-

Abigail Spanberger is on track to win by the largest margin of any Democratic candidate for Governor since 1961, before the integration-era party realignment.

Democrats will win their largest House of Delegates majority since 1987.

A BIG night.

I don't know how things are going elsewhere because I am totally locked in on my place but Virginia Democrats are having a FANTASTIC night

Need to see more but my personal sense looking at the size of the splits here is Jason Miyares is donezo
November 5, 2025 at 12:56 AM
A fair amount of ticket splitting happening across Virginia, and a lot of variation in how much splitting across different areas, but not seeing enough for Miyares so far because Spanberger's numbers are too damn high

Generally advise ignoring Election Day turnout anecdata but if you want to ignore that advice, turnout numbers in our Northern Virginia district are very, very good so far

Sixth week of House Republican recess coming up. Will be confirmed in the 2:00 p.m. pro forma today, but it's not in doubt.

The Senate Majority Leader confirms the special session for next week.

The process would be- pass a constitutional amendment now, pass it again early next year, then a referendum goes to voters, and if it passes redistricting follows.

2-3 seats at stake as soon as 2026 depending on how it goes.
VA Dems *confirm* they're moving forward with a plan to revisit the state's redistricting commission. It would require lawmakers to pass an amendment twice, which would then go before voters—in theory early enough next year to allow time for a remap before 2026.
