Just noting that this @jeffreyyoung.bsky.social bit is about to turn 12 and shows no signs of becoming irrelevant

Sixth week of House Republican recess coming up. Will be confirmed in the 2:00 p.m. pro forma today, but it's not in doubt.

A 53-year-old woman participating in a No Kings protest in Canton, Ohio was injured when a man drove his truck onto the sidewalk, struck her, and sped away. One eye witnesses said "It was definitely on purpose."

A few minutes ago in the House:

- Speaker Mike Johnson officially cancels votes next week, extending the House recess through a fourth week

- House Republicans block Democrats from passing a bill to pay the troops during the shutdown, ensuring they will miss paychecks next week

Remembering that crazy Tuesday two years ago on this date when the House removed the Speaker for the first and only time in American history.

A hell of a day, I'll never forget it

Republican congressional leaders and JD Vance managed to both keep Trump from speaking much during yesterday’s White House meeting and from appearing in public afterwards, so he took to Twitter to post a racist AI-generated video.

Solid response from the Democratic Leader here:

Hat tip to @aoc.bsky.social, this is pretty excellent

Yeah I’m not endorsing the piece, just trying to answer the question “why” about a position I didn’t take or agree with because people asked me to. The response to that here though had me thinking about this part a lot

A good and fair question, I think most who voted yes were more focused on the half of the text on political violence etc than on the half about Charlie Kirk. Not a benefit to voting yes, a problem with voting no. To be clear it’s not how my boss voted or what I’d advocate, just trying to explain it
