Barbra is one of the many talented women in this league. But, she doesn't have to have talent for us to stand with her and say she does not deserve any of the hatred she receives on a regular basis. She deserves respect. I stand with her and ride for her in any weather.

It has boggled my mind since I was sixteen that the moral hazard of driving does not weigh on literally everyone all the time.

I hate it! I don't want to risk ruining or ending someone's life just to get to the damn grocery store, but where I live, I have to, every day.
You can be the safest, most attentive driver in the world and still pose a massive risk to other road users. That’s because cars and car dependency are inherently dangerous.

This doesn’t mean you’re a bad person if you drive, but I do think that drivers should acknowledge their role in this system.

Also just a friendly PSA that you are under no obligation to watch videos of horrific or gruesome events just because they appear in your feed. Sharing this because I'm familiar with the feeling of watching something without really thinking about it and then immediately regretting it.

Off the dome: split base of whiskey and tequila (or maybe mezcal?), jalepeño and aromatic bitters, black pepper simple syrup, stirred and served over a big rock. Garnish with orange and lime wheels (because it’s a truck, get it??)

Whenever I bike (or, on occasion, drive) on neighborhood streets, I stick to 15 mph.

When you're going that speed, it's *amazingly* easy to stop should anything unexpected happen,

This might be:
-A driver pulling out of a driveway
-A bicyclist doing a u-turn
-A kid stepping out from behind a car

A former French military base, Vauban is a thriving neighbourhood of 5,500 residents connected to Freiburg town centre by bus and light rail. Built in the late 1990s as a radical experiment in low-car living, it forgoes virtually all on-street parking in favour of active, green, and social spaces. 🧵

There are a lot of important reasons to bike - health, climate, financial, etc.

But at the end of the day, it's just really fun to be able to smile and say hi to my friends & neighbors when we happen to pass each other in the bikelane.

Handy guide for dudes with opinions about other people's bike-riding:

If they haven't asked for your opinion,
and/or if they're not in imminent danger,
keep your opinion to yourself.

Thank you.
Dude passing opposite me on a bike:
“Ma’am, your seat is too low!”

Thanks, I’m good, I reply with a cheery voice.

“It’s easier on your knees!” he angrily screams back.

And that’s what I thought about for the next 20 minutes.

Jerk.

With Toronto FC (re)hiring Robin Fraser, there are now 3 Black head coaches in MLS, along with Wilfried Nancy and new NYCFC boss Pascal Jansen. It's the most since the start of 2023 and, iirc, matches the league's all-time high.
