If we must have 2026, at least let’s have it together!
Good start to the new year to hang out for a bit at @elizqueenmama.bsky.social’s place with @bogrosemary.bsky.social and @kellygo.bsky.social, @mediaslave.bsky.social, @srfrjulie.bsky.social, @jacobsberg.bsky.social, and others not from the Internet!

this is such an important thing to recognize and call out

the fascism is mostly done being nice at this point, but it got here through well dressed men politely asking questions while the rest of us were scolded for pointing out where those questions led

This would be so popular at the national level if centrist Democrats let us use those words in that order

This story reminds us that:
a) Not everything has been digitized
b) Not everything digitized is accessible to the public

Also: What's happening at NASA is part of a broader trend of library closures in government & industry. (Even university libraries are moving away from physical books & journals)
They're going to *throw out* one-of-a-kind NASA archives?!

Not even a year since the Inauguration & we're already at the 2nd-time-as-farce version of the burning of the Library of Alexandria.

So, librarians, do you have a contingency plan for when these goons enter your facility? You might not be able to block access to a public building, but how are you alerting your patrons? Do you have a plan to get them out safely? Because you should.
Your tax dollars hard at work in Minnesota at the library! Notsee LARPers everywhere these days getting those government paychecks

Just brutal. 📜📚

Apropos of nothing I interviewed for the deputy director here in 2019, lost to an internal candidate.

Goodnight, sweet prince.
Eric Adams is amazing because when he won every media person was leaping over each to go “this is the normal sane leadership that the political left doesn’t understand normal sane Americans crave” and then every day since that Eric Adams has been like “Leprechauns are real and I’m going to cook one”

(to doing the dishes piled up in the sink)
Men doing this whole “I will vanquish continents for my children” LARP is so goofy in the context of household surveys. It’s nice you’ll kill millions for your daughter, maybe we can start at doing a load of laundry for your wife who does the vast majority of household labor?

boycotting the Kennedy center is just like dropping a WaPo subscription or quitting Twitter. It rankles the worst people in the same way because it reminds them that normie liberals have agency, which they don’t like

Per the D.C. CFO, the impact of the federal government layoffs may finally be hitting the city's revenues. He says in a new revenue estimate that sales/withholding tax collections for October were down, potentially reflecting the layoffs taking effect.

The Kennedy Center prioritized owning the libs over everything else and artists refusing to show up is the natural consequence of this.
This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.
