I think people usually call this going back to normal, you know, when they kill and kidnap nonwhite people and no one writes pop songs about it.

This is a good question and to answer it, my favorite to win is Not Adeliia Petrosian because fuck Eteri. What an awful, abusive person she is and the doping is like only 20% of the conversation.

Civil rights figures like Jesse Jackson are why black feminists are theorized intersectionality: he might have forged a multi-racial coalition but black woman weren’t always in that coalition. Complicated man, complicated politics.
i think jesse jackson was one of the most important american political figures of the post-war era and i think that his 1984 and 1988 campaigns for the democratic nomination still have a great deal to teach about forging a path to a more egalitarian world. RIP.

The 1988 Presidential election is the first one I remember, and even as a preschooler I was all in for Jackson. I know he's been in rough health for years, and 84 is a really respectable age, but it still feels surreal.
I was fortunate to meet Jesse on one occasion and when I did, I could feel the weight of history. You could feel the weight of April 4, 1968. You could feel the weight of his revolutionary campaigns for president.
