kitsch, she/her, in my 30's. i'll probably talk a little about cooking, a little about politics, and more about figure skating than you would like

the next century really will be like being a medieval peasant gawking at roman ruins and wondering "how'd the ancients manage that?"

the current divine wisdom is: when something even remotely adjacent to politics makes you feel insane on social media, log off from social media and call/email your congress members to yell at them about it instead of the random poster on social media
My two easy rules for staying sane on social media are don't yell at anyone and don't let anyone yell at you. Some would charge you a fortune for this divine wisdom but here you get it for free

As if artists don't have enough to deal with, Amazon has a "Buy For Me" program in beta which is scraping indie shops for their items and putting them up on Amazon (often incorrectly), for their "AI agent" to buy from the other site. It is NOT opt in, and there is no opt out.
I just found out that our stuff is being sold on Amazon - WITHOUT our consent or any ability to opt out bc Amazon is just scraping artist’s websites and putting our shit in their search results. Again, without our permission.

It would have been so funny if this had happened with One Direction
2 mins into Peter Jackson‘s Beatles doc and I‘m once again thinking about how Beatlemania was very much a girl centric fandom and then within years they became the sort of band men would mansplain to you at 2 AM in kitchens at parties

it's really frustrating how easy it is for figure skating videos to go viral and people love watching them but the powers that be (ISU / USFS / NBC) are totally incompetent at capitalizing on it and actually promoting the fucking sport

You know what no one had to do with any of those things? Force me to use them. Put them in stuff where I didn't want them. Tell me over and over "you may not like it, but it's here to stay". I was excited. I sought them out. That's WHY they were world changing.
