Something way more people need to internalize and help their friends understand is that the *only* politics and culture that you can reproduce using pile-ons, networked harassment, doxxing, death threats and the like is a fascist one. It doesn’t matter what you think your motivations or politics are
Losers decided to do gamergate but pretend wokely 🤦

If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

maybe there was a time when it made sense, but i’ve come to the conclusion that social media dogpiles are always crappy, even when you agree with the mob’s point

maybe it’s just my low-follower-mentality, but it is unfortunate how the incentives are against ppl letting it go and moving on
this is genuinely a very clear situation:

- trans woman on bluesky posted about a curvy video game mod she saw on twitter
- she was dogpiled for hours
- she eventually responded poorly
- she deleted that post & apologized
- the harassment continued
- she has now deleted her account

great job 👍

three bylines, six months late, almost zero new information we hadn't reported months ago. lowercased our name and mentioned deep in the story. no link to us. said they couldnt find the govt privacy document (we did). good job wall street journal
One of the WSJ's A1 stories today was reported *6 months ago* by @404media.co, a team of just four journalists.

i mean this in the best way, but the “i’ve had it” hosts remind me of rush limbaugh. both in the way they are consistently entertaining and in the gleeful way they insult the opposition, down to how they have nicknames for everyone they hate.

They kidnapped the head of a Latin American country, replaced him with an insecure white racist who has spent his entire life arguing that Latinos are subhuman, and made clear that their primary aim is to plunder the country for its resources.

If it isn't yet clear, yes, we're the fucking baddies.
Per WASH POST, Stephen Miller will play an “elevated role” in Venezuela (what could go wrong!) and Machado won’t be president because she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize Trump wants (yes, seriously)

Couldn’t make it up if we tried

this is also why exterminators will never get votes from “team roach” - why would a party that likes roaches ever vote for an exterminator, even if it’s a friendly one that plays with them, when they can just vote for a roach
the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

the fact that tony dokoupil was already a cbs employee before trump’s takeover should be a reminder that while the maga movement has trashed our institutions, the institutions were inclusive of a lot of shitty people pre-takeover
A CBS News staffer told me this after Tony Dokoupil kicked off his CBS Evening News tenure tonight with a lengthy Pete Hegseth interview:

"If this is what Bari and Tony’s CBS Evening News is going to look like, then the we may as well just call ourselves Trump Administration State TV. Pathetic."

You don't have to listen to these professional liars who are barely trying. 9 months ago they were saying they were powerless to return a man they illegally sent to an El Salvador gulag because it would violate that country's national sovereignty
Vance pushes back and says this was not illegal, arguing "Maduro has multiple indictments in the United States for narcoterrorism. You don't get to avoid justice for drug trafficking in the United States because you live in a palace in Caracas."

a grand scale looting, on a scale never before seen
DHS reportedly fast-tracked a contract worth almost $1 billion to a company led by a donor to a pro-Trump nonprofit group where one of the officials overseeing the deal previously worked.

That raises serious ethics concerns.

libraries should have a nurse onsite with public office hours. they’d answer basic medical questions, (teens asking about puberty, adults asking about vaccine efficacy, etc), who corrects disinformation. an in-person cdc website, but who can also tell you what care you may need to seek (if any).
