I love this article and am so curious what the free speech advocates on this site think about the perspective articulated here. My stance, echoed by this piece, continues to be that the threat of government censorship of marginzalized voices is outweighed by the actual harm caused by big tech today.
For decades, internet politics has been shaped by a cyberlibertarian perspective that obsessed about government while enabling the corporate dystopia we live in today.

If we want a better internet, we must abandon that perspective and reclaim sovereignty over digital technology.

Cyberlibertarianism must die if there’s to be any hope of a better future for the internet

If I can only contribute one thing today’s discourse to non-newsroom people who work in corporate environments it would be this and it comes from my background as an equity analyst, not as a journo

I had been advocating for lifelong public humiliation of some sort but I kind of like this idea better
I just kind of think all these people should, after a fair trial in which they are zealously represented before a jury of their peers, be eaten

Except... Honest news reporting doesn't make money cause people won't pay for it so maybe not quite?
Other folks have said it, but let me just note that:

(1) lots of talented, must-read journalists have been let go from their jobs over the last year

(2) millions of Americans are abandoning current media outlets and looking for new alternatives

Seems like a sure-fire business opportunity here?

Was at an NHL All-Star party and this dude was so much taller than everyone else there it was hysterical. Also an absolute legend of course.
He speaks nine languages, runs triathlons, wrestles Olympians, and has the hardest shot in NHL history.

Zdeno Chara may be the biggest "unicorn" in NHL history, and his journey to the Hockey Hall of Fame was suitably unique.

By the way Senate Dems, you realize that you absolutely cannot reopen the government right? Look at this shit here. He's being told by a judge to pay out OUR TAX MONEY already earmarked for SNAP and he's not going to fucking do it. What do you think he'll do with any "deal" you make?
