Well holy fucking shit. Ring cancelled their partnership with Flock. Keep pressure on them to stop volunteering their feeds to state, local, and federal agencies, though, because that part's still going.

Just going to note again, because somehow we've all completely retconned this and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, that pound-for-pound Biden had one of the most draconian border security regimes of any U.S. president ever, second only to Trump, *many of whose policies he inherited and kept*
Not going to read them all because jesus fucking christ but this is nasty work from Friedersdorf

I work in tech, in a large ML org. The hype isn't true.

There are use cases where it works really well. There are more use cases where it works okay, but needs a lot of human hand-holding (think dozens to hundreds of humans). For many highly marketed use cases, it doesn't work at all.
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

Republicans can't do anything about the AG directing the DOJ to do an embarrassingly obvious cover-up of a massive pedophile ring that includes the President and several people in his admin/orbit, but they apparently have time to make it illegal for regular folks to vote without 17 forms of ID.

Call your Senators. This passed in the House.
Rep. Subramanyam on the SAVE Act: This bill makes it harder for military members who move a lot to vote, for Americans impacted by natural disasters who have lost documents, and for the nearly 70 million women who changed their name after marriage whose IDs do not match their birth certificate

Henry Cuellar should never hold elected office again. Anyway in the meantime, make your Senators scared of you.

Honestly even Republicans can be moved if they get enough calls. So make sure to do so. Especially make Democrats terrified of their voters if they don't vote no with a bullet on this one
NEW: House passes SAVE America Act

218-213; Rs + 1 Dem (Cuellar) vote yes.

Revised Trump-backed bill requires showing proof of citizenship "in person" to register and slaps photo ID rules to vote.

Now it goes to the Senate. No path to 60. THUNE promises a vote.

House passes SAVE America Act, sending Trump-backed election bill to the Senate
The legislation would overhaul federal election laws in all 50 states by imposing new voter ID and proof-of-citizenship requirements. But it faces a daunting path in the Senate.

No, AI Written Romance Novels Are Not Inevitable
The New York Times interviewed two authors who claim AI is the future of romance novels, who coincidentally also sell courses about how to use AI to write romance novels.

What a moment.

This reminds me of Bill Barr getting out ahead of the Mueller report with "Nothing to see here!" and the entire US press collectively deciding not to read the report itself or talk about any of the criminal things it said Trump did but that he couldn't be prosecuted for because he was president.

If you have Delta Sky Miles, you can donate them to help a kidnapped-and-released person fly home!

They are set free on the streets of El Paso or another Texas town with no phone, no money, nothing at all. Your miles can get them back to their loved ones!

—A mayoral election in Leander, Texas, where a Dem-endorsed candidate faces two candidates with GOP affiliations.
