So, this thread--particularly @lizthegrey.com's useful explanation of how the relevant databases actually work--is worth reading in response to the Erin in the Morning story that's terrifying our community today.

But I'll add a few broad points about Where We Are and scaremongering.
I'm sharing this bit for folks in my specific situation (F on my passport which is correct, got it changed during the Biden admin):

"For those who updated their passports before this administration, any attempt to revoke those documents would be far more complicated. [...]" (1/2)
The intent, for anyone paying attention, is clearly to revoke trans peoples’ passports and then refuse to issue new ones, keeping us captive and on a state extermination list.

We should officially replace the US's national motto, In God We Trust, with the old unofficial motto, E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one). In God We Trust was only added in the 1950s to distinguish the US from the godless commies, and smacks of theocracy. E Pluribus Unum is far more fitting.

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Mayor Pete has the right to marry because the gay men and lesbians who came before him fought for it. It was a movement based our identities in the plural sense as LGBTQ Americans. Pander somewhere else fella.
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25
Pete Buttigieg critiques Democrats for focus on identity
The former U.S. transportation secretary said the Democratic Party should focus more on issues gripping the country, such as health care and housing affordability.

"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

The important thing is not whether the Trump performing sexual favors for Bill Clinton thing is true. The important thing is that we all pretend it’s true, and that someone asks Trump about it every day.

Far right-wing conservatives should be socially shamed into at least getting evaluated for anxiety disorders, because it's simply not normal to think the world is so fragile that trans people existing will somehow cause it to collapse.

There's a great opportunity here for direct action to get invited to the same sex parties and then spend the entire evening doing everything you can to kill Musk's boner
Was hanging out with a friend recently who travels in Certain Circles and she offhandedly mentioned that Elon Musk goes to sex parties in Austin, which immediately summoned up the absolutely horrifying prospect of being in the same sex party as Elon Musk

I do think politicians that are beholden to to corporate interests do not want to address this. It's definitely part of the problem here.
Hunter might you consider the thesis that nobody actually *wants* to solve the housing crisis?

We need housing prices to keep going up, because home equity is what's filled in the gap between productivity and real wages.

Look, Vance knows this is false. He doesn’t actually believe it. He has said this outright. For fascist filth like Vance, factual correctness is irrelevant. All that matters is whether it is symbolically correct. It’s vice signaling. Does it accurately represent your imagined fears?
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

[puts on queer radical feminist hat]

I think this is related to Megyn Kelly's not-technically-a-pedophile remarks.

Reactionary patriarchy only cares about sorting "normal" from "deviant".

It doesn't care about sufficiently *normal* kinds of violence, abuse, coercion, harm, etc.
I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

I can't even fathom what January will look like, except probably very bad for the Trump regime.

Absent a major black swan event, I don't see a path to power consolidation for them at this point.

For a number of reasons, not just Epstein.

(Thread)
The timetable evidently has been accelerated.

What's your new predication for when we get to January?

I'll just throw a random one out there: They do release the Epstein files but only after Trump had time to preemptively pardon himself and he tells his base he had to cause it was a Dem smear job.
