The anti-trans propaganda push is one of the best examples I know of real-world disinformation in action.
Part 3: "The astronomical rise in stories about trans people that I’d collected over the previous year told a different story. This massive, messy dataset was brimming with increasingly vile headlines that only seemed to metastasize with time. ... two years later we know how the story turns out."

Fun fact: the best stats available suggest that the unemployment rate for US trans people is comparable to the Great Depression.

Another fun fact: the best stats available aren’t very good because the Bureau of Labor Statistics had never bothered to measure the trans unemployment rate.
there is an employment crisis among trans women and there always has been, but good luck getting people to see it
Still living this life after almost 8 months. A professional I know who works almost exclusively with trans people said almost all of them are unemployed.

Reminded of when this happened a month ago

So far, the Equality Act has not been on my side
One of the funniest things that's happened this week is my mother telling me "the Equality Act is on your side" in relation to a job that requires working with children

Like...yeah...

At least 12 WI groups are closing or considering closure after the organisation barred transgender women from membership.

Members say more groups are likely to close, and that the federation’s decision has opened up a toxic, traditionalist culture that will deter younger women from joining.

Is it feminism when you kill women's groups because you hate trans women? Sex Matters et al say YES!

You hate it when a cringe memory comes up?

Just remembering the time I accidentally sent a picture of my DS while playing Ace Attorney into the wrong group chat, with people I barely knew, before you could delete messages in FB messenger, and watched as everyone saw it and didn't respond
a man in a turtleneck sweater is standing in front of a fireplace .

Today's ruling on the EHRC's interim guidance is a disappointing, confusing and mixed picture.

A trans woman who is a customer in a café can use the women's toilets, but if she works there she might not be able to.

Once again everyday life is being made a legal labyrinth for trans people.

A “trial” that can only ever be 100% unethical @naomilong.bsky.social.

What are you going to do about this?

You need to reflect upon the fact that trans kids are 7 times more likely to die by suicide than cis kids and READ MY RESEARCH about the great harm the puberty-blocker ban is causing.
Harming children: the effects of the UK puberty blocker ban
This paper presents an analysis of data from trans children and young people and their parents following the imposition of a UK-wide ban on puberty blockers for this group. The consequences of this...

Side note: this is the kind of thing when I mean relational and caring labour needed for coding that just gets erased because people don't treat it as work.

Getting to know how a project works, how they accept submissions and submitting in a way that helps them integrate your contribution is work!
I've seen forks that were entirely vibe coded by someone who didn't know how to code at all (I think the meshtastic code base might have been to implement some feature by a vibe coder that didn't know etiquette to submit a PR) but I don't know if anyone else has.

As many know, I've been researching John Coulter, a trans man who lived and died in Belfast in the 1800s. Yesterday I found where he had been born, when he left home, where he went after that and his deadname which should allow me to find family connections etc.

This is the trans Wakefield Scandal.
Any politician using the Cass Review to justify anything is dishonest, especially Bridget Phillipson.

It is un-peer-reviewed pseudoscience that has been, & will continue to be, discredited by multiple peer-reviewed publications all of which have more credibility than Cass.

These are listed here;

US Troops killed all the guards at Dachau for this kind of shit.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

What you don't do is start by saying you're fine with the guy feeding trans people to the leopards and then, when trans people say they won't vote to be fed to leopards, respond by saying "well the other guy wants to feed you AND OTHERS to the leopards. So get on board, bud."

The reality, of course, is that it's the job of a politician to win votes in a democracy. Like, that's literally how it works. That's the game: "How many people can I convince to vote for me?" And you do that by deliberately picking policy positions, sculpting a personal narrative, endorsements, etc

The inversion of electorial responsibilities by American libeerals is extremely bizarre to me. It's a mentality that Democrats cannot fail voters, the voters fail Democrats. If "your guy" didn't win it has nothing to do with the guy and everything to do with a disobedient electorate.

I wanted to re-share this piece that I wrote, because I have a lot of center-to-left Dems that follow me that want to understand.

There are very good reasons transgender people do not like Gavin Newsom.

All of this kerfuffle in the UK about "what the law actually means" could be resolved instantly by the current government passing a law to affirm trans rights. They have an overwhelming majority. They could do it.

Transition is not

-Dress like
-Look like
-Call yourself
-Have a name associated with

- your gender. It is to *live as* your gender. It's the terminology that's always been used.

There's no other way to see it than that they're banning transition, which is surely in breach of a lot of things?
