The "desistance myth" is made so much more pernicious by the fact that not only was it based on DSM-III-TR which predominately involved false-positive cisgender gay kids, but it was popularized by those who pathologized later-life transition, taxonomizing it as inherently lesser in their criterion.
I wouldn't know about extraordinary, I do not think I personally am, but the bare-naked truth of the matter is, had I not transitioned I very probably would not still be around. I spent literal decades, half my life, trying to be cis. To be "normal". In the end it was a matter of honesty to myself.
Since Cass is again making the rounds for expounding on all the ways we might make fewer trans kids, here’s a piece on how this discourse erases the lives of trans people doing extraordinary specifically because they embraced who they are. Whose rich lives wouldn’t have happened in the closet.

Sodha could be forced to wear a skirt & heels to work (& “smile!”), use a toilet based on her race & support (from lower, sex-based, pay) relatives sacked for being pregnant, gay or old.

But as a victim of her trans rights-stripping agenda, the difference is I will always fight such discrimination.

My work was one of the one 19 targetted. It sucked! Luckily I was able to represent our LGBT staff network and get them to reinstate a lot of trans rights that had been lost as a consequence of this. But being targetted sucks. This is the opposite of "equality"
The EHRC are forcing exclusionary policies on organisations. By publishing this today, they clearly do not plan on applying the findings in the case of GLP v EHRC.

This is what I try to help people understand. If you could see the way my daughter smiled and laughed for the FIRST TIME IN YEARS after she came out to us as trans, you would get it.
My father was quite transphobic, and was not convinced I was really trans at first. He thought it was a new manifestation of mental illness. But as time went on and he saw how much happier I was he's been completely convinced, and he's growing less skeptical abt other trans ppl over time.

“Will anyone in the Epstein files be held accountable?” What you have to understand is that while sexual violence is technically illegal and frowned upon in the abstract, in practice it is accepted, ubiquitous, de rigeur, and a primary vehicle for male bonding.

The First Minister said that trans people are valued in Scotland, that he understands the anguish and hurt created by the Supreme Court ruling. Why then is his govt using the very same words from that judgment in law when it doesn’t need to? Ask them: equalrecognition.eaction.org.uk/howwillthisb...

And we're meant to have faith in this system that lets the super rich order kids like takeaways and cant even bring itself to arrest a single one of them, all the while as we're told migrants or trans people are why we can't afford to live in peace.
The entire thing is fucking insane.

…extreme right-wing money & mainstream/oligarch media support was lavished on organised transphobia in the form of well- but opaquely-funded “women’s concerns”/faux-“feminist” transphobic hate groups to campaign to strip trans people of our human rights.

Everyone like Sodha is to blame for this.

More than almost anyone else Sodha’s faux-reasonable anti-trans diatribes in the Guardian - claiming *concern* about women’s rights - contributed to undermining the Equality Act.

If Reform gets in cis women will lose every gain they fought for since the 1960s, thanks to “journalists” like her.

Following the pattern; some of the kids involved will not be able to cope and need to drop out of school.

A parent - most likely mother - will need to leave the workforce to home school them.

The child is less likely to earn qualifications, reducing employment opportunities.
There's no justification for this other than absolutely hating children, the disabled and neurodivergent specifically.
The Labour government is going to absolutely gut SEND provision, especially when it comes to neurodivergent kids. From The Times exposé last night

This explains why AI keeps repeating dangerous dreck about important medicine like vaccines and puberty blockers.

It should be blocked from 'providing' any medical information.
Right now people are using this trick to change what AI tells you about topics as serious as medial questions and financial advice. The problem is ENORMOUS

Experts like like @lilyray.nyc say this is a problem the tech industry has know about forever, they just didn’t work on it til it was a crisis

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

An excellent article, with characteristically offensive & disingenuous responses from TERFs. I really am sick of them force teaming women into their nonsense.
