Cisgender trans inclusive feminist. I have no money. Please don't ask.
The question I always want to ask.

Why do we 'have' to get on with 'these people'?

So - @greenparty.org.uk - maybe explain how various activist activities work?

How do people do phonebank?
Leafleting?
Doorknocking?
Putting up posters?

Don't assume people know!

One of the reasons I emphasise religious extremity in the Starmer government is not because I dislike religion, or religious people.

It is because the dangerous, toxic side of dogmatic religion is the glorification of suffering.

And it seems to permeate this government.

Simply: "The argument for GAC has never been solely about its ability to stop death, it’s about the way it helps us build the lives we deserve. The argument for affirmation is that no one should be deprived of the opportunity to live their lives in such a way as feels the most true to who you are."

Yes. So many survivors of sexual assault feel ashamed - and are shamed by their peers, the police, the media and the judiciary.

And the perpetrators almost never feel bad.

Democracies are not democracies if billionaires can use their wealth to fund anti-LGBT+ campaigns and if politicians prioritise their bank balance, biases and bigotry over actual experts.

History teaches us that the greatest harms often begin with the quiet acceptance of the unacceptable. I have seen where that road leads, and I will not walk it again without resistance.

Reading this, seeing kids post about buying new portable tape players, refurbished iPods, Minidisc players, all of it. Now it has new meaning, a desire to move towards intentional listening, where for us only having a handful of tapes was just what we had. It wasn't in contrast to a bigger idea.

Did everyone miss the DFE guidance?

Labour are 'allowing' social transition in very limited circumstances -

After forcibly outing the kid.
If prescribed by a medical professional.
If none of their peers object on 'belief' grounds.
With humiliating sex based segregation.

It's already a ban.
Remembering last year, when there was brief stint on here during which people claimed Labour were worse than Reform on trans rights, and sighing

(Labour supporters, this is not an endorsement of Labour)
Braverman says social transitioning would be banned in all schools, "no ifs or buts". She says the 50% target for university education would be replaced with a 50% target for kids going into trades like electricians and plumbing. As ever, I'll believe it when it's the MPs' own kids who do this.

I love how the Guardian think it's terrible to ban social transition when it's proposed by Reform - but totally sensible and normal when put into law by Labour via DFE.

I’m not going to pretend to spare people’s blushes.

Transphobia is wrong. That’s why we needed to fight it.

It was also never going to stop with trans people.

Every anti-trans campaigner has played a part in this attack on women’s rights.
February 17, 2026 at 2:46 PM
Yeah. What did y'all think would happen? There's a reason why anti-abortion lawyers like Conrathe are working with GCs. And why actual feminists oppose 'gender critical' ideology so strongly.
Braverman is now lambasting equalities policies, saying Reform would scrap the equalities brief and repeal the Equality Act. Giving her this role - any role, in fact - does feel like quite a risk for Reform.

The weirdest thing about being late-diagnosed AuDHD is trying to figure out which things were really you and which things were attempting to fit into a world that wasn't built for you.
I spent my life before realising I was autistic thinking I was a failed allistic person. Now that I realise I’m a perfectly normal autistic person, I’m damned if I’m going back to hating myself for failing to be something I was never supposed to be to begin with.
The medical model teaches #autistic people that we’re broken. It’s not our fault, but we have a responsibility to work hard to “improve” by acting allistic. We will NEVER fully achieve this goal, but we’re not allowed to stop “trying.” We’re expected to live in shame & self-loathing. I refuse.

“Draft trans guidance for schools treats vulnerable kids as a threat”

A very good one line summary.
Draft trans guidance for schools treats vulnerable kids as a threat
The guidance won’t become law until September, but the draft shows Labour is intent on kicking trans people and calling it fair play

The owners of a satirical autism news site have confessed to bugging the living shit out of your home in what the tabloid press is calling “Autergate”.

Also, if you borrow an author's book from a library in the UK, that author gets more than 12 pence per loan in Public Lending Rights. Any author can earn up to £6,600 per year this way.
Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

Paranoid theory; so many people are muting the word Newsom that supporters are using deliberate misspellings.
How do you even pronounce it? NOISE-um? New-SUM? NEWS-um?
I'm hearing ai spelled Gavin Neusom's name wrong in my thread - I apologize but it's an easy mistake that make. Ordinary voters might struggle with this issue also.

It's the same with the EHRC. The government funds it and selects the personnel, but somehow it's independent and the government can't interfere.

It's all a pantomime.
