This was the reason my mum gave me for being really shitty and homophobic when I came out and, parents, if you picture your child's entire future and get disappointed if they don't turn out how you want you need to understand how very *yours* that problem is.
She explained to me that *of course* she had nothing against trans people, but she'd always known [child's name] as a boy and "That's just not the life I'd pictured for him."

Trans people are a small part of the population and statistics point out that men are the biggest threat to women, girls, trans people, other men.
