I was so excited to celebrate It's Not a Bloody Trend's birthday this morning, only to discover that it was actually...yesterday. Anyway, my book on (you'll be shocked to hear) ADHD is one today!
I am so hugely enjoying Ella Risbridger’s book on romantic fiction (a present from my peerless mother in law) and I think it might be the platonic ideal of a betwixtmas book. I feel myself waking up again.

Hand for scale but does anyone have the slightest idea what these mad cake-fork-fish-knife-looking cutlery implements are?

Each Christmas my husband makes me a year in review made up of our no-context WhatsApp photos to each other, and it is my favourite thing ever. No evidence of our holiday, obviously, but local roadworks were well represented.

The dog rather optimistically put a leg in the river then hastily removed it. It is bitingly cold today in the most literal sense: I feel as though sharp-toothed goblins have been hanging off any part of me that is exposed to the wind.

Such a small but lovely Christmas thing is the massive Big Yellow Self Storage building near the Hammersmith Flyover turning off the S on either side so it now reads ELF STORAGE.

Once again, Blair finds the beauty, the mystery, the magic, and the humanity in ordinary places. The lesson? All of it is all around you all the time if you take the time to look and listen.
Last month, @outsidemag.bsky.social sent me to spend 14 hours in a suburban ice rink, learning the stories of everyone I met. Why do they skate? I asked. To feel free, they told me. To feel God. To forget, for a minute, what they've done.
What I Learned After Spending 14 Hours at a Suburban Ice Rink
A full day inside a suburban rink revealed how one place can hold ambition, grief, faith, and escape—sometimes all at once.
