I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house.
I don’t know why but reading about this puberty blockers trial has got me feeling very blue this afternoon.

There was a moment there where it thought a new generation would have things easier - and it feels like that’s all slipping away.

This will probably take another generation to roll back

I swear this article was written to ragebait me specifically.

It’s really worked my blood pressure has well and truly spiked after reading it x

@batariangal.bsky.social “to trans”, like what we were discussing yesterday. Just the whole concept of trans or….? 😭
Reform are so dangerous and this headline doesn’t do it justice. I also think a piece like this should start with the politician‘s core views just to emphasise the urgency.

I have mixed feeling about this as even I’ve used this argument too.

On a personal level it can sting a bit when cis people say it. On the other hand I also think it objectively true, and talking about how transphobia affects us all is a useful way of identifying solidarity
Ngl, it doesn't feel awesome that so much discourse about policies designed specifically to hurt trans people is about the negative effects it might have on some cis people.

Not cos it's not bad that it will have broader incidental effects but because it should be enough that it will hurt us.

Do many Labour voters actually want this? Her views seem thoroughly repellent, I couldn’t imagine any person notionally on the lefts whose values are further from my own.

Please can people stop unironically using terms like “grown up politics”? It’s just so cringeworthy and clearly a load of nonsense.

It really sets my teeth on edge lol

It is remarkable how many gender criticals have broadly departed from not just the left, but mainstream feminist thought in general.

Despite its initial redwashing, it is fundamentally a socially conservative movement and has been for a while imo.
Sorry to post an Unherd article but surely emboldened by how trans rights have been sucessfully undermined - and her support from many UK philosophy colleagues - Kathleen Stock is now starting to question abortion rights. It is important to recognise the trajectory here.

We should probably have more sympathy given she did all of this alongside a glittering film career
It’s hard to read this stuff from doctors without cringing at how wildly out of touch it sounds (and how little self-awareness). £100k+ income is, to most of the public, beyond our dreams. Entitlement and class privilege is not the best way to win people over to your cause!

“New guidance seen by the BBC” which the Times has also seen funnily enough lol.

Guys this is HUGE! Read all the comments from the minister in this piece - this is the beginning of a climb down. Where it will land who knows, but the winds are shifting!!

When this moral panic is over I’m going to enforce my own ban of Brits using the term “bathroom” to refer to public lavatories x

A good piece that is more nuanced than the headline, and I say that as a Green who broadly supports a wealth tax.

Adding to my point about how these people essentially deny medical transition exists - “we can always tell” is their only line of defence.

When that delusion is punctured, the nonsense of their entire worldview is too. Pretty much all of TERF ideology is predicated on it.
None of these examples are covered by the EHRC guidance. It’s notable how the biggest supporters of this bathroom ban are unable or unwilling to engage with the actual implications of it.

I am once again reminding transphobes and the whole of British media that medical transition exists x

LOL so in reality self id as we all suspected, with empowered busybodies who will most likely target GNC cis women.
"The new guidance also removes a suggestion in an earlier draft that those running services could in “necessary and proportionate circumstances” ask to see a birth certificate or gender recognition certificate (GRC) if they suspected someone was lying about their sex."

Can someone explain the reasoning for this? I’m sure there’s some dreadful reactionary reason, but I can’t really wrap my head around the need to make this distinction?

Is it some kind of weird Richard Dawkins brain?
Both Keir Starmer and his official spokespeople now refusing to use the word "Islamophobia", instead using the term "anti-Muslim hate"

This video is actually obscene, what the fuck is wrong with this woman?

Hun there’s no “risks” about it, your party and leader are doing it right now.
The leader of the greens thinks he can persuade Putin to give up weapons. The leader of reform thinks he can cut public spending without cutting services. Labour risks falling into same trap in its immigration and asylum policies. To actually change the world we need less bravado and more scrutiny.
