I've uploaded a free preprint for a forthcoming article, Mad Pride in Revolutionary England: The Ranters as Mad Actvism. It will be published in History Workshop Journal next year. I'm proud of this and see it as the start of a new, much bigger project.

Not suprised that an academic anarchist is in bed with corrupt people and institutions but I am suprised to hear that so many people hero worshiped chomsky. I agreed with him more often than not but he was just a guy who commented on the news a lot, and may even be the first very online leftist.

There were lots of angry reviews of this book. I found it helpful and at times funny.
You’re not necessarily a fascist if you do yoga, but you’re likely unaware of the fascist and racist roots which brought what Stewart Home calls modern postural practice to Europe and North America.

Transphobes are authoritarians who want nothing more than forced deference. This is out of the precise same playbook.
Because why would any members of Sarah Ditum's family possibly want to never see or hear from her ever again...?
Yeah, no thanks.

Stop guilting people about being estranged from family members. It someone is they likely have personal reasons for being so.

I do think that was the right move of Bill Clinton to just be like yo, I'm cooked anyway so let all the files out. Probably one of the most moral actions he's taken in his evil life.

The way trans activists are routinely demonised in the UK is really wild. You can engage the most basic of democratic, nonviolent forms of protest and transphobes respond as if the world is collapsing and trans activists are to blame. There is no form of trans activism that is acceptable to them.

The problem with Streeting (aside from all the other problems with Streeting) is that he appears to want to be PM purely for the fact of being PM as a win & of in itself. It’s hard to detect any kind of sincere ideology, or even ideas really, other than whatever he thinks will get him there.
I was talking to a Labour MP the other day who said it would be easier to get behind Wes if he could just mask his ambition a little bit...
Tell me you’re positioning for a leadership bid without telling me :….Taxes too high as opposed to poorly structured?

Recently read that the widespread use of modern expresso machines in cafes was an outcome of fascism in Italy. They were advertised as promoting speed, modernity, productivity; Italian machines improving the functioning of the people and efficacy of the nation. Somehow we all now live in that world.

I'm not a particularly good writer, but for what its worth by far the most important skill I've learned is: being able to ruthlessly delete parts that both took ages and are good, yet which nonetheless detract from the elegance of the whole.

Interesting to see a far right polician wanting us to say "differently abled". In my experience this (terrible) suggestion has always previously come from a certain kind of liberal. Some kind of new ideological convergence seems to be occurring here.

I just saw the classic 1968 Basaglia work The Negated Institution has now, for the first time, been fully translated into English by @footymac.bsky.social. An incredibly important book in the history of critical approaches to psychiatry. And its open access!

I think Tommy Robinson's current Christian stuff is quite reminiscent of the British Fascisti, founded by Rotha Lintorn-Orman in 1923. They were mainly anti-immigrant, anti-communist and Christian nationalist, without any deeper theory, but in retrospect were a signal of what was to soon coalesque.

Really interesting Marxist approach to issues around neurodiversity in the modern era, by @drrobertchapman.bsky.social

Many relevant insights into alienation; how capitalism narrows standards of mental normality; how the pathology paradigm is problematic; eugenics etc.

Recommend.
