Adults when I was a kid: "You'll grow more conservative as you get older."

45-year-old me:
a man is standing in front of a large fire with the words `` burn it all down '' below him .
Alt: A man swearing a jean jacket, black t-hirt, and gloves is standing in front of a blue truck and behind a fire in a barrel. His hands are spread triumphantly behind the fire. The caption reads "BURN IT ALL DOWN"

love when there’s a newspaper profile of some psychopath that points out they allow themselves “a lone vice, like a single cup of black coffee in the morning.” personally I am a bundle of trash glued together by vices. they’re all load-bearing

On 29th January 1996, "Threshold", the Star Trek: Voyager episode where Captain Janeway and Tom Paris turned into giant space newts and had babies first aired. Since it's #ThresholdDay we aim to answer a burning question: did Paris and Janeway fuck? If so, how did they fuck?

I saw a critique of Springsteen's new song, it being too earnest and cringe, and if I could just take a second to introduce you to the entire Bruce Springsteen catalogue we could settle this in a heartbeat.

One thing we are looking for is a CREOLE translation of the standard Know Your Rights

We’ve got a pretty sizable Haitian population we need to protect

If anyone has leads on a translation that already exists in Haitian Creole, that would be deeply appreciated

Or a knowledgeable translator

I mean this is exactly the kind of cringe that I think we’ll need to shamelessly and unironically embrace moving into a future of unabashed civic virtue, I feel that on the whole irony-poisoning and rejection of sincerity as embarrassing is part of how we got here
okay it's cheesy but

"it's our blood and bones
and whistles and phones
against Miller and noem's dirty lies"

got me right in the heart

Small bit of trivia: the Dallas PBS station manager who approved buying/converting the Monty Python tapes, which essentially led to their movie career because it was so well received in America via the PBS underground, was Robert Wilson (father of Owen, Luke, and Future Man Wilson)

A lot of really good analysis here as to why TV historically hasn't made shows like #HeatedRivaly. For Reasons (most of them dumb! frustrating!), TV continues to leave money on the table (aside from Hallmark etc). Not ideal! I hope the success of HR changes this however +
"The real question here isn’t why Heated Rivalry is a hit—it’s why this kind of romance series is so rare in the first place."
