Seconded. This wonderful newsletter's been making my Fridays a little brighter since 2016, introducing me to so many fics and fandoms I might never have discovered on my own. Happy Anniversary Elizabeth and Gav!
Happy 10th anniversary to The Rec Center! My fannish life has been greatly enriched by this newsletter from @elizabethminkel.bsky.social and @gavia.bsky.social! Thank you both for such a labor of love for fandom and fan culture.

THE RAVEN SCHOLAR has me in an absolute chokehold, what an incredibly well-paced jewel of a book, I love the feeling of looking at the 400 remaining pages & feeling the anticipatory loss of it coming to an end

forget the long arc of history bending towards justice, I need the rube goldberg machine of inexorable consequence to endgame the kind of profoundly ironic yet blackly hilarious karmic downfall that would’ve had ancient greek theatergoers hollering at the chorus

I reread this review of A Drop of Corruption and I WILL be stealing the phrase "quasimagical biotechnology" for my Obsidian book log to apply to all the weird plant/body horror stuff coming out of SFF.

More than anything, just tell the creators of things you like that you Iike them! Leave comments, click like, share, all that stuff. It’s fuel for creatives.
I think a big fandom shift in interacting with stuff has gone from people commenting under the created thing whether it be fic or art to people linking it in private discord groups where the person who made it will never see any positive comments left on the thing they made.

kind of wild that in the span of like 20 years we've circled all the way back around to "get a film camera and never post any photos of yourself or anyone else really online ever" being the most reasonable position

Artists, if you use the alt text option to write “image”, I will mute you and never see your work again. Either use alt text or don’t, but don’t bait people who need accessibility tools.

I think this might actually be my favourite "easter egg" thing I've read about Heated Rivalry? There was so much care and attention put into so many "little" choices. www.tumblr.com/coeur-de-coe...

anyway, thank you for giving us this, NYC. Because it matters! It matters that we get this hope, it matters that we get to see what he can do. it matters that he proved you can run the kind of campaign he did, and win.
y'all worked so hard to give us that! 💓

Our Solar System is orbiting the center of our Galaxy at about 220 km/s so in 2025 we collectively traveled something like 7 billion kilometers across the Milky Way. Once in a while, when you have a moment, it’s worthwhile to take a look around, see where you are, and appreciate how far you’ve come.
