There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.

Go. Check. Your. Ballot.

DragonDiaries: Tried dragon yoga again. This time a brought a hot tub full of yogurt. Said it was for therapeutic decontextualization. Worked great! Self-dipping yogurt pretzels for the win!

Morning arrived like unworkable solutions proposed to intractable problems by the uninformed—Monday at the cat rodeo, basically.

It would be cool if we lived in a world where Republicans were _also_ treated as though they have agency.

I cannot even. With 1800s level health care I’d have died in my childhood a couple of times and at least three times in my terns and twenties. The only way I’d have written my first book is if I could have signed up for the undead.
I just saw someone say that people back in the day (1800s) didn’t pay for healthcare and (1) y’all there was a lot of advertising for health products!

It was just that without any real regulation, nobody knew what worked.

Might you have missed some of the depth of Tuesday's results, beyond the big headline races?

I'd been watching roughly 200 races heading into Election Day, so here's a thread of some of what you don't want to skip over!

Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.
Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.

DragonDiaries: Just had a horrible thought. What if being bitten by a werewolf makes me allergic to silver? Half my hoard would give me hives! That would be sooooo not sparkly!

Morning arrived like the slow lazy realization that the warm bathtub you’re waking up in is actually filled with sleeping gerbils—so warm, so fluffy, so please don’t wake up, please don’t wake up please don’t wake up.

It’s going to be interesting to see whether the Republican Supreme Court figures out that their authority flows from perceived legitimacy achieved by following the rule of law. Because, I suspect the Republican Court believes their legitimacy flows from their authority, and boy is that wrong.

This all the way to the bone marrow. Find things that bring you joy and cling to them like the life preserver they are in the stormy seas of our present moment in history.
I saw someone on my timeline shaming someone else for posting about college football in a time like this.

Folks, if we're going to survive a time like this, we're going to need to avoid burning out from an attitude of 24/7 vigilance and constant outrage.

Let people find joy where they can, please.

If you’re trying to catch up on what went down with #SNAP late last night at #SCOTUS, here’s my attempt to read the breadcrumbs on the “administrative stay” issued by Justice Jackson—and why a justice so critical of the Court’s grants of emergency relief to Trump still granted temporary relief here:
190. SNAP WTF?
A very quick explainer on why Justice Jackson issued an "administrative stay" in the SNAP case late on Friday night, and on what's likely to happen next
