#TN07 reminder, from @politico.com today:

> “If our victory margin is single digits, the conference may come unhinged,” one senior House Republican said. A loss would be catastrophic and the conference would “explode,” the Republican added.

A minor point lost in all this is that "narcoterrorism" was nominally coined to describe people like Pablo Escobar who were literally using their drug enterprises to commit bombings/mass murder but the DoD is just using it interchangeably with trafficking

DOGE isn’t gone. The 19-26 year olds burrowed in to the agencies they were assigned to. We’ve got dozens of unqualified 19-26 year old GS15s still pursuing Musk’s agenda, which is stealing everyone’s PII/data, all contracting info, moving it onto his servers, & mining it for his profits. 1/
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

This is a great reply when a serious news source finally cops on to something the rest of us have been saying for years.
Nice. Have you gone back and examined who was critical of this series of marketing moves at the onset and perhaps said "They had a point."

Didn't think so.

The AI industry would be a lot more popular if it focused on life-saving applications instead of trying to addict everyone to their product to make revenge porn and cheat on homework. And if they didn't lie constantly about how well their applications work.
We could save soooo many lives but people are so caught up in their reactionary moral panic nonsense

If AI can detect cancer it's worth using a lot of water and electricity to make that happen. But we're all so jaded by the grifty AI boosters who killed biomedical research based on facile promises that "AI" would solve all scientific problems so we didn't need to fund scientists.

republicans are going to have three more years to re-learn that trump's political capital can only be spent at the trump company store and that having him back you while he's in office can be worse than having him yell at you

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

That nyt piece going around ignores one important fact- there is no good or lasting art coming from the transgressive illiberal crowd. None. Their comedy is one note. The music less than that. The movies are forgotten before they come out. The cultural revolution is so busy being anti it isn’t pro.

Magnolia's Cafe on Rochester's deep blue Park Ave might seem like a strange place to meet Trump supporters. But over the clank of metal spoons against bowls of tomato soup, you can hear whispers that the president's friendly meeting with Mamdani may be the beginning of a pivot to the center.
