Elon Musk's huge meltdown about how he doesn't read books reminds me of this classic exchange when he argues Iain Banks's anti-capitalist Culture novels would agree with the world's richest man crushing unions at Tesla.

Why did the rich son of rich Republicans become a Republican like his parents? Not sure there is a huge mystery there.
Why Nikki Haley’s son went radical: His generation inherited insecurity.

I profile Nalin Haley, a fascinating young man, who I believe will likely play an important role in conservative politics in years to come.

Read this with open mind it ultimately doesn't say much. "LLMs do some things well and other things poorly compared to human brains." Ok.

I'd like ONE of these articles to take next step and argue what rights LLMs should have if you believe they think/are sentient www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

It should be extra illegal to text/call/email/pop up spam you about "feedback."
a petty thing I feel very strongly about is that it should be illegal for a company to email you just because you visited its website. stop that. stop that at once. no I did not buy your item and now I WILL NEVER BUY YOUR ITEM.

BREAKING: OpenAI is requesting US government support to help guarantee financing for the massive investments in AI chips and data centers it needs for expansion, per Bloomberg.

Trump does not even have a nub of a brain left. He is completely gone into his own demented fan fiction self-insert AU story with basically no reference to the real world.
Trump: "If I didn't have tariffs, the entire would be in a depression."

VA gov winner is ex-CIA officer who ran moderate campaign, although also with an economic focus like Mamdani's.

Lessons across VA/NJ/NYC seem to me to be 1) Voters are turning on Trump 2) They want politicians who are fighting back 3) Economic focus wins 4) GOP culture war nonsense is losing power
VA/NJ folks: are there any good articles on the Dem's Gov campaigns there? So much about Mamdani (understandably so! amazing stuff) but curious what was key in the Gov campaigns, since Ohio has a woman Gov candidate (plus Sherrod Brown for Senate)--what lessons are good for us here?

If I had to guess right now (and it is premature!) I'd say the Supreme Court is going to strike down Trump's tariffs.

All three liberals are clearly against the government. Barrett too. Roberts leaning that way. And we haven't even gotten to tax-hater Gorsuch yet.

I'm sure this observation has been made before, but political pundits have a bad case of sport fan brain where in any close contest the ball bouncing one way means inevitable GOAT team of destiny and the ball bouncing the other way means hopeless chokers cursed to suffer.
the entire twitter and group chat poisoned elite of American society who decided Trump winning an election by 1.5% heralded a thousand year reich may have miscalculated a bit

Problem for centrist Dems is their entire pitch has been "OK, we offer nothing but *only we* can win elections and defeat Trump" and then they lost 2/3 times to Trump and failed to prosecute or halt him in one time they won. If your pitch is competence and you're incompetent...
