Another example of the disability visibility advocacy Alice Wong worked on: she was a vocal supporter of Palestinians and refugees, because Palestinians' and refugees' rights are also disability rights.

She co-organized the ongoing important Crips for eSims campaign

Alice Wong did incredible work.

She connected and built a community of disabled people that celebrated each other, embraced our differences, and amplified marginalized voices.

Please learn about her and the work that must continue.

If you're just stumbling across everyone's posts about Alice Wong ( @sfdirewolf.bsky.social ) today, she was an active writer and editor, in addition to her work as a disability visibility advocate with disabilityvisibilityproject.com

The irony here is painful.

Alice Wong wrote a column for Vogue called Disability Visibility. You can still find all her writing for Vogue under her author name.

But *Disability Visibility* - also the name of the advocacy group she launched - has been erased.

Exactly how disabled people often are.
The new owners of Teen Vogue have already erased her column.

So, I've been contemplating whether or not to say this, and had hoped I would have a chance to tell Richard this to his face last night, but he bolted out of that room right quick.

But one of the things that's been clear to me since I launched A Better DFL? People are hungry for change.

Hi Minnesotan Bluesky:

The DFL has a well-known transphobia problem. I'm organizing to change the party platform in 2026 to be explicitly supportive of trans people in Minnesota. This will provide a basis for expelling transphobia from our party.

As a linguist, it is just so aggravating to hear every time he is criticized in any way, people saying "But he is a great linguist!" (Let's just say this is not, uh, the consensus of the field)

Maybe that will finally stop now, though the genocide apologia from him didn't make it stop

Amazing how he does that, consistently.

Last week, 65,000+ residents voted to elect a democratic socialist mayor. All Council races that had a DSA-endorsed candidate won by overwhelming margin. These results send a clear message: people want leaders who will fight for working-class communities, not corporate interests.

Once you start thinking of AI as a war on humanity, on human thought, on human inquiry, on human labor, on nuance and critical thinking, it slots in pretty seamlessly with the right wing ideological project, oligarchical political projects, big tech's political projects, etc

The long-running ideological war on libraries, education, and government workers is not separate from AI boosterism. It is the same ideological war on human knowledge and expertise. In some cases AI is being used to directly supercharge this effort:

If you have kids in private or charter school you can still email the school board!

If you’re from outside the city and you believe a thriving Minneapolis is what’s best for MN, email the school board!
If you are a parent of a kid in Minneapolis public schools, please, please, PLEASE take 2 minutes to email the school board (SchoolBoard@mpls.k12.mn.us) and superintendent (mpssup@mpls.k12.mn.us) to tell them to settle with the educators' union and give them what they want. Your emails truly help!
