Pretty clear to me that if Vance is coming to prance in front of the ICE church, savvy folks should organize a news conference of all the faith leaders whose houses of worship have been surveilled & parishioners too scared to attend. At least the ICE church folks could worship where they wanted.

I wish I could tell people that the DFL has a better plan than “shame people into prioritizing non-attendee forms,” but I’m actually not sure that we do.
DFL caucuses are in 2 weeks (Feb. 3, 7pm). Notably, the party allows anyone who identifies as a DFLer to caucus, even if they're not eligible to vote.

I would suggest that caucus-goers with the privilege to attend in person, like me, prioritize delegate seats for BIPOC and immigrant non-attendees.
eric eskola brought up the concern that DFL caucuses will be very white due to fear of ICE on TPT’s almanac on friday night too

What's jarring about the divide of Minnesota politicians right now is that those with more agency (state or city execs, or statewide political infrastructures) are the most disappointing, while those with more diffuse power (city council, state reps, candidates for office) are rising to the moment.

I think they expected another George Floyd-like protest that they could use as ammunition to prove that Democrats are violent arsonists.

In fact they're calling it a "riot" over and over again, even though there's nothing that could conceivably be called a riot going on.
To those saying “nuh-uh, ICE picked Minneapolis because they WANTED the city to rise up as one against them” -

no, pretty sure they expected a scattering of blue-haired protesters they could easily crush for content + tacit support from other whites, not the organized total resistance they got.
ICE and MAGA really did bet the farm on all of Minneapolis’s white people going “oh yes, please take away our disgusting, evil non-white-foreigner neighbors, oh thank you so much.”

it’s beautiful that they’ve been proven incredibly wrong about that - may the rest of the country do the same.

I noticed John Piper’s birthday in upcoming events on their website, which told me all I really needed to know, but scoops has the full scoop here (it’s a good thread with important details).
That church on Summit with the ICE pastor has a lot of ties to John Piper's Bethlehem seminary, and specifically with toxic figures that were kicked out of that (already quite conservative) church because they were abusive and palling around with fascist pastor Doug Wilson (Pete Hegseth's mentor)

Somehow they manage to ignore all the brave Christian pastors out there having guns waved in their face, while a masked ICE agent asks if they are afraid.
So this church, where the pastor is also a high-ranking ICE official, was protested and confronted by members of the congregation and community yesterday, and now ICE is hosting a press event about how protested are persecuting Christians. The place will likely be teeming with right-wing influencers
CONFIRMED:

Earlier today Don Lemon reported a protest at Cities Church in St. Paul, MN where they said pastor David Easterwood is Acting Director of the ICE Field Office.

They were 100% right.
