Wilhoit's law: Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

They fully intend to be exempt from the laws they enact. The hypocrisy is a flex.

We *only* watch old school Sesame Street in our house, for this exact reason.

They deliberately cast it to have white cast members in the minority.

The Mr. Hooper actor did time on the McCarthy blacklist.

The racial integration was so in your face, Mississippi stations initially refused to air it
Most of the moral messaging in children's television programming when I was a kid was utterly uncontroversial at the time, and would be attacked as woke indoctrination today.
This is quite literally one of the stupidest human beings alive

Santayana wrote: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Republicans think: We need to cover up our racist past so we can repeat it.
Signs about the history of slavery in the U.S. and the 9 people George Washington enslaved are being removed right now at the President’s House Site in Philadelphia, across from Independence Hall, months after the Trump administration threatend to do so.

How far we have not come in 250 years.

i don't have strong opinions about whether garland or biden could and should have done more to try to get trump, because i'm not a lawyer and it think it's a dizzyingly complex problem, but i *do* hope that 2028 candidates have learned some lessons from what happened and have a plan
i think this is correct and i think what it exposed is that our regular legal order was fundamentally incapable of overcoming partisan polarization to impose said consequences
i feel that the failure to impose any consequences on Trump for January 6 is the root cause of everything bad that is happening now

Even if the shooting was justified, which it wasn't, the failure to render immediate aid and blocking of a doctor from doing so constitutes 2nd degree manslaughter by the ICE agents at the minimum.
So she had a pulse. That’s what the doctor on the scene wanted to check. She wasn’t breathing, but she had a pulse. He could have started CPR right away.

Instead ICE barred the doctor from attending her and waited 15 mins for EMT to get to her.

I agree with my fetid, decaying president. That Times/Siena poll is fake (it's based on an R+3 sample presumably extrapolated from 2024 turnout patterns when Gallup's party ID polling has swung 10 points back to D+8 in the intervening months).

Heavy snow is likely across a broad region from the Southern Rockies and Plains through the Mid-Atlantic and into the Northeast. Snowfall totals exceeding 12 inches are becoming more probable in localized areas. Widespread travel disruptions are likely.

Nate not realizing that our "unincorporated territories in the Caribbean" were acquired from Denmark in the first place in exchange for... relinquishing all claims to Greenland.
