People asking this question about the lack of cultural impact of Avatar movies are the main cultural impact of Avatar movies.
Is there any franchise that's made more money and had less impact on wider culture than Avatar?
Looks like Avatar's got a good shot at a $2 billion total globally when all is said and done. It's arguably a more bankable franchise than the Avengers at this point.

Fun used bookstore find: a pristine copy of The Bluejackets' Manual from back when my dad was in the Navy for $3.

Aspiring to the level of success as a writer that causes McKay's to dedicate multiple shelves to all the copies of your books people dumped there.

Something most people don't appreciate, possibly because I don't tell them, is most of my book sales are from word of mouth. Someone reads one of my books, finds something worthwhile in it, and makes a point to tell their friends.

There's no marketing apparatus here; it's just you all.

That's the thing, cults of personality aren't known for having an off ramp.

Buy the ticket, take the ride.
The President of the United States is very seriously mentally ill, and elected Republicans are so afraid of him that they won’t do or say anything about it.

Whatever you think of "traditional masculinity" as a concept or whatever, nobody has exhibited less of it than these super online dudes who are obsessed with it. Just the most flaccid crybaby peepee pants stuff imaginable.

Stray is like a 10/10 adventure game held back by 4/10 chase and stealth sections.

It's best played with a cheat program to nerf or disable Zurks and the sentinel things.

My entire ethos on Bluesky has been to engage less and block more and it hasn't given me an ideologically narrow hugbox, it's gotten me a larger and far more varied collection of mutuals than I ever had on Twitter. I'm just not wasting energy on crappy people.

So many of Bluesky's foibles are made up for by the fact that its block function is like a Mortal Kombat fatality.

Being able to make a snotty reply guy simply stop existing in your world is *chef's kiss*

I'm very anti-AI in the narrow sense that most of the products marketed as such lately are pure trash at what they claim to do, and its loudest boosters are the worst people to ever live. However, we're also bound to get anti-AI grifting as AI-hating becomes a bigger target audience to exploit.

I'm a huge mark for the aesthetics of the Horizon games. Dark swampy gloomy everything games can suck it.

By some accounts the increase in lung cancer from mass production of cigarettes offset all the lives saved by all the cancer treatment improvements of the 20th century.
With more actors, pop stars and other celebrities spotted unapologetically smoking, the cultural taboo against it shows signs of ebbing. That worries antismoking advocates. 🔗 on.wsj.com/49om2X4

I like bourbon, but no bourbon is worth over say $100, and trying to turn it into a collectable snob product like million year old Scotch or whatever was always cringe.
Let’s air those grievances. I want to hear your pettiest gripes on this the holiest of days.

Both did less sexual harassment than real flag officers so it all evened out.

Even if you count the Colt 45 commercials.
Han Solo and Lando Calrissian both have histories of gambling problems, criminal activities, obviously they should get commissioned as general officers

Their new branding is ATROCIOUS, but of all the upscale "we made a Slim Jim but out of actual food ingredients" products, only Lorissa's Kitchen actually scratches that greasy-spicy itch.
