Every time I see someone say that Democrats need to give ground on trans rights, I look at stuff like this, and the 2025 election wins, and I see that the moment for that capitulation already came and went. I’m sorry Gavin committed to it too early or whatever, but it’s clearly the wrong call.
@rikiwilchins.bsky.social Just noting in the past week, Dem leaders introduce Trans Bill of Rights, Gov Beshear in KY cites Bible to defend veto 2023 anti-GAC bill, and State Sen Talarico in TX Senate race says sports is a local issue, and KS Gov Kelly in vetoes a bathroom bill. Just sayin'...

Based on his experiences with the annoyingly overhyped technology, stupid businesses and irritating marketing of the 70s and 80s, he was able to very successfully predict the annoyingly overhyped technology, stupid businesses and irritating marketing of the 2010s and 2020s.

We are at an airport restaurant. A robot just drove up to us with our food, said, "Hi! Here I am!" and then drove away with our food.

If it’s any comfort to Rep. Massie, there is absolutely no way this administration could murder someone without bragging about it 10 minutes later.
seems bad
INBOX: Rep. Thomas Massie, who has enraged Trump for his insistence on blocking tariffs and releasing the Epstein files according to the law, just issued what is widely known among Chinese dissidents as "a declaration of no suicidal intent" (不自殺聲明), a sign of extreme distress.

Imagine what these stats would look like if the opposition party were opposing it on these grounds instead of forever trying to “turn the temperature down” and “be serious.”
NEW w/ @tarabuss.bsky.social and @anatosaurus.bsky.social: Last April, 50% of voters believed that “the Trump administration has completely broken from previous standards and is operating more like a fascist regime.”

Today, that number is 58%.

ICYMI: I introduced my Trans Bill of Rights with @markey.senate.gov — legislation to defend trans people across this country as Republicans continue to push anti-trans rhetoric and bills.

To our beloved trans community: We see you, we love you, and we will always stand with you.

Pam Bondi makes a lot more sense if you stop thinking of her job as “being the Attorney General” and realize that it’s actually starring in a TV show whose audience is a lone senile psychopath.

Institutional knowledge and reporting take time and money; regurgitating a narrative with takes is cheap.
really interesting to me how many professional political commentators have basically retconned the draconian immigration enforcement policies of Obama and Biden out of existence and have completely swallowed the right wing narrative of immigration enforcement

Nonsense, I’m sure this structural problem (and all structural problems) can be fixed by making women do more work for minimal pay.
Could it be that the school food subsidies provided by the USDA have not only been reduced by the USDA but have also had their buying power massively reduced, while funding for educational infrastructure (which includes kitchens) has also shrunk? Those lunch ladies need to be paid, Brooke.
Rollins: "School lunches are next. A lot of schools don't even have an oven anymore. When I was growing up, lunch ladies were back there cooking meals on stoves. So how do we completely and fundamentally change the system to go back to where we're serving healthy whole foods to these kiddos?"

I know cis people don't realize the cruelty, so with gentleness and empathy for them, let me try to explain.

Being trans is difficult. Instinctively, you already know this because you think it would be better not to be trans.
“We would expect support for full social transition to be agreed very rarely”
There you have it, the gov wants trans kids to rot in the closet
This explicit transphobia is spelled out in excruciating detail. Direct from Cass again.

The Atlantic has a whole crew that's just Gaslighters Monthly
Just going to note again, because somehow we've all completely retconned this and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, that pound-for-pound Biden had one of the most draconian border security regimes of any U.S. president ever, second only to Trump, *many of whose policies he inherited and kept*

A government of the pedos, by the pedos, for the pedos
At some point people will have to understand that these guys aren't in the Trump administration despite their friendship with Jeffrey Epstein but precisely because of it

A scene late in the book where my protagonist bonds with some new friends before some very bad things happen. I needed time to understand those new friends and their relationships to each other, and I've also felt some pressure to get the whole thing right.

#HorrorWritersChat
Q3:
Here at #HorrorWritersChat we really do like to peel back those insecurities and fears and expose them to the light. You can do this.
Which scene do you keep putting off? And why?

Failure, both in the sense of being tested and making the wrong choice, and finding out uncomfortable things about yourself. Which turned out to be a life theme.

#HorrorWritersChat
Q2.
This question is not about the comfortable places that we go with horror. But the uncomfortable ones. The ones that turn us inside out even as we write them. The ones that make us wonder who we are, at the end. #HorrorWritersChat

If you'd waited a day, I could've asked my therapist.

I didn't set out to write a horror story! I had a setting (the old houses and woods up upstate NY) and some themes I couldn't stop thinking about (capitalism and gender) and realized they might make a good horror story.

#HorrorWritersChat
OK, so here we go, #HorrorWritersChat bods.

You know the drill. Four questions, repost as many as you like, no links: promo at the end.
First I want to know.
What makes you write the kind of horror that you write?

The party of Molech
She really just said why are you talking about the mass coverup of child rape when you should be talking about money
Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

‘We’re offering the president’s goons billions of dollars in extra funding and asking them to pinky promise to stop flagrantly violating the law and the Constitution in their ethnic cleansing campaign.’ — The Negotiator
This is criminal negligence. He shouldn't just be removed from leadership, he should be removed from office.
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

One reason is that all these pro-Trump guys have no real life support and are propped up by billionaires who find their views useful for wealth accumulation; another is that, among those who are artists, none have made anything anyone liked in 20 years.
I was thinking how when Scott Adams was about to go and rightwingers were saying “you have no idea what impact it’s going to have when Scott Adams dies, he was loved by millions” and then he just died and nothing happened. These ghouls just disappear when they stop talking
Remember when Charlie Kirk got shot and the right was like "THIS IS CIVIL WAR!" and three weeks later he was completely forgotten about? That's going to be most all the rest of these assholes too

This is the ur-grift: it’s not the get-rich-quick scheme that makes you rich, it’s teaching other people how to sell it to someone else.
To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books.

She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it.

It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.

I say this as a non-vegetarian: The annoying vegan stereotype is entirely projection from people who recognize that there is a moral element to their choice to continue eating meat, and they resent being reminded of that fact.
in an era when carnivore diet influencers are in charge of the american nuclear arsenal we have to admit the "annoying vegan" stereotype barely ever actually existed and the "all meat diet guy" is real, increasingly omnipresent, and way more annoying and inconvenient to actually be around
