TFW your extremely niche area of academic research is in the news! A 🧵 on some aspects of the building formerly known as the Pro-Cathedral (or the Metropolitan chapel as it was called first!) www.rte.ie/news/ireland...
Pro-Cathedral designated Dublin's Catholic cathedral
Pope Leo XIV has designated St Mary's Pro Cathedral in Dublin as the city's official Catholic Cathedral, becoming the first in the capital for 500 years.

one thing i will say about these epstein emails is that i wish they were disseminated the same way around. am i meant to be reading from the bottom? from the top? who's writing to who? i don't know if i'm being mad at the right bits, you have to hold my hand.
There's *so much* in there about Bannon's work to promote the far-right in the US and Europe, e.g., this exchange the usefulness of giving the press and the public an enemy to focus on (specifically, China):

so much resistance against "wokeness"/leftist politics is annoyance at cringy elements, though it's possible that it's a facade on actual rejection of the content.

some leftists/leftist stuff is annoying/silly; that seems less forgiveable in centrists than it otherwise would be, for some reason.
my wokest opinion is that land acknowledgements are fine. people knowing a little bit about the land you're on, even if one isn't invested in a land back project, is not particularly worse than the status quo, even if one comes by this info in a way that is somewhat cringe and forced
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

it's so funny that alex jones was totally right about everything, the government is a bunch of drug-addled pedophiles and masked regime thugs are grabbing people off the streets, and now he has to pretend it's all a hoax

I’m happy for the soccer fans and their one-off win, I am. But I can’t help feeling that their win takes away from the extraordinary achievements of our rugby team over the last decade.

Let's give Liz Hurley credit: she would never agree to look a day older on screen. That's the Liz Hurley Promise.
My trailer for a nostalgia-drenched, unfunny family-focused Austin Powers reboot, ala Ghostbusters: faint orchestral rendition of that bossa nova song. A kid wearing the glasses discovering a dusty Swedish penis pump in an attic. Liz Hurley in old lady makeup saying "Your grandpa..was very horny.."

fucking hellfire christ this is bananas. a Harvard Professor of English discussing LOLITA with Jeffrey Epstein in 2018. Epstein pleaded guilty to a state charge of procuring for prostitution a girl below age 18 in 2011. it was in the news.
Interesting email here from Elisa New, Harvard professor and wife to Larry Summers, to Epstein, reflecting on Lolita.

"...it's about a man whose life is stamped forever by his impression of a young girl."

it's by-the-way but you read this juvenile nonsense and realise just how divorced from reality Sorkin screenwriting is. i don't believe that someone who writes like a dimwit talking out loud on Love Island could be nearly as fluent as this in person.

remember the Bilderberg Group, the shadowy community of elite politicians and squillionaires who met across all sorts of party (if not ideological) lines to bond and network and plot. Alex Jones used to hide in the bushes and get irate about them.

basically Epstein but with less paedophilia

Again, the thing that truly drove them insane with rage was the sight of Harvey Weinstein being dragged to prison in disgrace, unprotected by his wealth. A lot of rich, powerful guys clearly understood it as an act of extreme aggression and a direct threat.

He wrote about it in his books! That newspapers reviewed!
It is absolutely insane that Michael Wolff was actively advising Jeffrey Epstein on how to avoid negative press for years and years.
