If we are to remain indelibly tied to FFI as a way of sustaining our economy then I reckon we should just go all in on Chinese investment. Being a literal vassal state of Beijing would be preferable to what we have now

Was never mad into 'neither Washington nor Beijing' as a slogan on certain parts of organised left, seemed like an instance of playing the hits > What's happening now but between this and the emissions story yday, popular front with latter is imperative
In terms of what cures are being lost:
