Do you think someone's going to get hurt at an event where there are Zionists and Irish footballers / fans (notwithstanding that those who attend probably won't be very conscious). Or would that be alarmist

Actually Taiwan will guarantee they won't
Confident Europe will realise this within a decade

If we are to remain indelibly tied to FFI as a way of sustaining our economy then I reckon we should just go all in on Chinese investment. Being a literal vassal state of Beijing would be preferable to what we have now

Was never mad into 'neither Washington nor Beijing' as a slogan on certain parts of organised left, seemed like an instance of playing the hits > What's happening now but between this and the emissions story yday, popular front with latter is imperative
In terms of what cures are being lost:

- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

I remember a Napoleon (or something adjacent) one where a guest closes with an admission that his legacy is greater than Wellington's and you can audibly hear the sense of dismay from the other guests. Vintage IOT moment

There was a few of these post 9/11 atlanticist episodes, hitchens on an episode about America was another, but the politics have been consistently establishment English philistinism, pro-Wordsworth, audibly bored by Brecht
Listening back and caught one on the crusades where they hadn't nailed the format and Tariq Ali's pro-Saladin line really upsets everyone

at the risk of being cringe or whatever, the making of Threads was a political act by CND people whose purpose was to puncture any sort of ignorant nationalist optimism about nuclear war & foreground the stakes in detente and disarmament for policymakers present and future
Threads director Mick Jackson has expressed worry over the upcoming remake’s focus on finding “hope even in the most challenging of times.”

“That one phrase worried me,” he tells Empire. “Hope is not part of nuclear war.”
