That a Bill Burr comedy skit that has to do with (as I understand it) staying calm, is apparently very good advice for winning arguments with your wife. I walked away from that conversation.

I loved this unsurprisingly. I am simply not prepared to read an obituary for Marty when he eventually passes. I will be fucking devastated.
I've seen this going around today and it's beautiful, so here's a gift link.

My niece got this for Christmas. Looks like the kind of thing you would find in an 80s New York loft in a William Lustig film.

Just back home from an exceptional Danish Christmas. Happy Christmas phone friends. I hope you have a great and peaceful day.

If it ain't for you, I hope it passes quietly and quickly.

I miss when blockbusters knew how to do proper sound mixing so you never have to mess with the volume in order to hear dialogue at the same time as the score is playing.

💯 A great article.
The best essay about this film that I've ever read, and I've not only read dozens, I've written a few myself. Hooray for Mary!
This is an almost shockingly wise essay. I'm glad I've finally read it.

Logging off until after Christmas, if you're feeling generous please donate to one of the Gazan families whose gofundmes I have been amplifying, no matter how bad things are here they are far, far worse in Gaza and a small donation will help a lot. I'm hoping for better things in 2026 for us all.

Chris Rea's death reminds me that 1980s Irish radio DJs never formed a consensus on how his name was pronounced, you could hear a REEah or a REE or a RAY or even a RAY-AH, it was never the same twice, keep em guessin up there in heaven with Paddington Bear, big guy, RIP

Probably worth noting that the British government allowed so many Irish people to die on hunger strikes at various times that it has its own Wikipedia page:

RIP. A brilliant performance in my favourite season of The Wire. Made me care about someone who on the surface was a nightmare, but just wanted to be loved and more than that, respected. Repeated viewings reveal depths.
RIP James Ransone
Ziggy in The Wire irritated a lot of people but when you see his final scene you realise what an exceptional job Ransone did to make you deeply sympathise with him & feel that a family tragedy has slowly but inevitably unfolded before your eyes. youtu.be/pkxYIHsmUQo?...
