Klein's "Charlie Kirk was doing politics the right way" line is particularly telling here. It had nothing to do with the facts of Kirk's life and actions, and everything to do with belief. If Kirk *wasn't* doing politics the right way, Klein's own interactions with him seem naive and foolish.

I always assumed these elites all had a deep seated contempt for DJT, he being their uncouth intellectual inferior, and that they may have had conditional reasons for supporting him at times but no more than that. It appears I was wrong. They are just as stupid and simple and cruel and autocratic.

His brilliant gifts won for him successively government positions, partnership in a prominent law firm, and eventually a highly paid job as a Wall Street adviser. He has always moved among important people and always been socially on the periphery. Oh wow this guy absolutely needs to be a continuing face of resistance. Face.. literally. We live in a tv reality shallow world so let’s just be real about how important it is for honest heroes to be telegenic and compelling. It’s not fair in some universal sense but we are past that point.

They shot a reverend in the head with pepper balls while he was praying in front of an ICE facility. If that doesn’t tell you where we are as a country, nothing will.

In the former official’s opinion, it was more likely that the vessel was carrying migrants on a human smuggling run. It would be impossible to know for sure, however, given that any evidence of drug smuggling was destroyed in the attack.
