This year, the City hosted a Resident Bike Lottery Program, giving income-eligible residents the chance to receive a voucher for a new bicycle from participating local shops. We checked in with some of the voucher recipients to hear what they had to say about their new rides!

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Nothing like a proposal for a modest amount of lower-income housing nearby to find out who your neighbors are.

I can't stress this enough as a super volunteer for the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates. This should prompt you to get MORE involved, not less. Show up and use the existing infrastructure to make it work for all of us. In my neck of the woods, we've seen a ton of local victories this way.
Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

In honor of my first <30ºF bike commute of the season, let's talk about how to stay warm in the 20s, 10s, and even 0s.

For years I biked for transit in Boston 9 months a year, pausing in winter – but one year I decided to just keep going. So can you!

Here are some tips 👇🏻, please share yours too!

As a reminder, posting on here isn’t activism. Tagging your senators in a post means nothing. But calling them? Your call gets counted as speaking for anywhere from 1000-10,000 constituents. Our reps work for us.

Example number 1 gajillion of how, even in the most clear-cut of cases, cops are not your friend and can't be trusted.

If you know a MA criminal defense attorney please reach out.
anyone know good criminal defense attorneys in the Somerville MA area? a local acquaintance's bike was run over by a car a few weeks ago, and they're being charged with a felony by SPD for the resulting scratch on the assailant's car

I should write the argument up properly somewhere, but I think this is fundamentally wrong. A decisive fraction of the capitalist class does oppose addressing the climate crisis, but *not* because it would be bad for profits. If anything, a green New Deal type program would raise aggregate profits.
Yes, this is correct. And the reason is because our capitalist classes have decided that it is not sufficiently profitable, so they're not going to do it.

We must understand this reality. Capital *cannot* be relied upon to address the climate crisis.

Please pass it on!

In MA the House reps receive $73K/year, so:

- The leadership can control members by handing out committee chairships, which pay more. Sometimes the committees don't even meet!
- They take outside jobs, e.g. my rep makes more than $100K/year consulting(?) for a class action lawsuit lawfirm.
If the only way to survive as a lawmaker is to have a secondary means of income, you are wildly open to corruption. It also means people from more marginalized backgrounds likely cannot run for office without being beholden to donors, who are much more likely to be conservative.

@awcamb.bsky.social When doing comparisons to 2023, I realized just now it's apples to oranges. There are three releases of results:

1. Prelim unofficial (night of).
2. Prelim (includes auxiliary but not provisional or overseas).
3. Final.

The commission website page for 2023 overwrote 1 with 2!

Then she lost by double digits 💁

This is a great essay explaining how we ended up here: www.equator.org/articles/we-...
The ADL has decided to treat fascists as allies and progressives as enemies. For a group that is tasked with protecting American Jews, that is a world historic fuck up.

I will never forgive these people for their moral decrepitude.

Charisma definitely helps politicians but IMO charisma is also a social skill, one that is cultivated by a back-and-forth with others. People will like you more if you listen, reflect their beliefs and opinions back to them, and be interested in their lives.

"I want to be Governor of Massachusetts but I am afraid of a park" is not a great pitch.
"Can you imagine descending into a dark..."

Shortsleeve and Kennealy are off their respective rockers, outperforming one another w/ melodramatic outrage about crime in Boston.

The Commonwealth has two blowhards one upping each other in Grand Guignol style. Sad and peculiar.
