"For Cohn, the fare gate debate is a chance to change how public transit works. “Whenever I see lots of money being put into combatting fare evasion, it always just ends up reinforcing to me why fare-free public transit is a good goal.”"

The new fare gates at South Station are annoying. They’re also part of the answer to a bigger problem. - The Boston Globe
For some, the gates are a practical solution to fare evasion, which drains MBTA resources. For others, they’re a symbol of why the transit agency needs radical reform.

Thank you for your principled, compassionate leadership in protecting your constituents and your community. Your integrity and dedication set a standard anyone would be proud to have in an elected official.
The ADA argued condescendingly that I would rehabilitate myself w/community service so something good would come of this. The way men speak to women they know they could never measure up to.

Our policy director @jonathancohn.bsky.social and @massbudget.bsky.social’s Phineas Baxandall earlier today testifying about why we need to permanently opt out of the regressive corporate tax cuts in the Big Ugly Bill. They are bad this year, bad next year, and bad every year thereafter. #mapoli

Thank you, @jamieeldridgema.bsky.social, for pointing out how numerous other states have decoupled from Trump’s corporate tax cuts rather than just delaying them.

They are bad this year, they are bad next year, and they are bad the year after. #mapoli

There's a hearing happening right now on this. The Healey admin is touting the benefits of regressive corporate giveaways that all 11 members of our federal delegation voted against.

They are fiscally irresponsible and set us up for harmful budget cuts in the future. #mapoli

Unless Beacon Hill takes action, Trump's regressive corporate tax cuts will get automatically written into MA law, and we will lose hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue each year, threatening essential services. #mapoli

NEW: A federal immigration judge ruled that there was no lawful basis for our client, Rümeysa Öztürk, to be deported.

This is promising news, but her case is still ongoing in federal court. We’ll keep fighting until she's free for good.
