CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

Drop the names of any Canadian companies you’ve seen working with ICE in the comments.

I’m aware of Gardaworld, Roshel, Hootsuite.

Would love to gather any and all other names.

I am from places where these things happen, and can go out in somepretty ugly weather, and this advice is sound if you aren't. A special note: the wet factor isn't just that wet skin chills much much faster, it's that wet clothes **stop insulating*.
I'm sure you've heard this before and I don't want to sound like a scratched record but if you're someplace that doesn't usually get storms and cold like this one, or you've only recently moved to someplace that does, treat this fucker with the respect you would give a kaiju.

this is your reminder, as some Weather approaches, that making "haha southerners can't handle a little snow" jokes is asinine and that the 2021 freeze killed several hundred people in Texas (state says 246, independent estimates put it as high as 700)

Two weeks of studio days with no pictures. Last week I was glazing and the works weren't fired yet. This week was my first on a wheel since, oh, October/November. Turned out ok but not trimmed yet.

Also, OW. The muscles regret the gap..

Carbon monoxide deaths spike during power outages. Many times, this is due to portable generators being placed too close to people's homes or run indoors. Make sure you have working carbon monoxide alarms. Run your generator outdoors, at least 20ft away from your home.

We are at a weird moment where I personally don’t have a lot of capacity to give a shit about Greenland at the moment, even though it’s one of the most heinous and immoral things that’s currently happening and normally I would be so fucking pissed.

So have you ever gotten a series of phone calls from a collection agency looking for the guy who had your phone number two years ago (or who wrote down your phone number instead of his)? Because imagine if the collection agency was allowed to knock down your door and drag you out in handcuffs.
DHS is out with a new explanation of this and "he's a brown guy who looked like some sex criminals who he allegedly lived with" (his sister-in-law's story suggests that last part is made up), and they claim he refused to be fingerprinted or "facially ID'd," which I do not in any way believe at all.

can we just quickly clear up an often repeated idea that Minneapolis is a “small city of 500k” or the “47th largest city in the US”?

it is directly connected to st. paul, a city of 400,000. with the suburbs, the metro area is over 3.5 million people.

your city won’t be safer because it is bigger.

Isn't it always the case that the police escort the fascists for fear of protest by the people the fascists would target?

(Starts humming the Battle of Cable Street)
Meanwhile in Minneapolis, the National Guard is being deployed today to escort the *checks news* *checks news again* *checks my vision at the optometrist* *checks news* racists marching through Somali neighborhoods to protest the existence of day cares for Black kids

If you're a writer, wondering why you should bother writing with the world on fire. It feels like it's not important, I need you to understand that it is.

Even if it is just because it keeps you moving forward? Even if it only brings YOU joy, that gives you energy to fight & survive.

Kiddo finds other middle schoolers to be bewildering and would prefer video to a book.

The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

Thread.

And for my fellow Americans: making annexation jokes to a Canadian is exactly the same behavior as “Your Body, My Choice.” Those comments put you on the same moral ground as jackasses on the Tate and Rogan plan.
It’s not funny, it’s a threat. It’s not a joke. Don’t do that shit.
So I'm not gonna defend Canadians being assholes (I'd rather set my hair on fire) but I'd gently point out that for a year our news cycle has been dominated with info that a neighbouring country with a massive military and *ten times* our population is serious, on some level, about taking us over.

I see the "how will we enforce the laws if we abolish ice?" thing is being trotted out and three things:
1. Ice isn't old enough to rent a car
2. How did we enforce them before ice, isn't that an option?
3. Should we even be enforcing these laws?
