A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.
When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.
This is outrageous.

The year is 2035. California's entire base of taxation is young renters and their entire budget goes to insuring suburban McMansions built in fire hazard regions. Half of Florida is underwater financially and the other half literally. Illinois is fine but still fucks up transit funding constantly.

I can believe that someone could become a millionaire honestly by luck, skill, and work. After all, a million dollars isn't what it once was.
A billionaire though? It's hard to make that kind of money honestly. You have to buy into human misery on some level even if you're far removed from it.

I built a fake mantle in a 1900s style using pallets, some cheap secondhand trim from the Restore, 70s tiles, contemporary tiles, and an actual antique mirror brace.
It's all butt joints, mostly nailed but the front facade is pegged together and the antique piece is screwed on.

One thing I enjoy about the Cologne U-Bahn is there's very little advertising. It's there but it's not EVERYWHERE like the ads on buses and trains in the States. Even compared to the UK it's minimal.
