Writer, potter, clerk. Canuck. She/her. Cis but knows trans women are women.

Where there is tea, there is hope.
Sales went okay; I sold more to strangers and peers than to relatives, anyhow... also, as well as the very last touches on the unicorn head, today I finished an octopus.

Unicorn. That is all.

The tradition continues...

Studio day. I also worked on the unicorn head a bunch but I wrapped it up and forgot to take a picture.

I wouldn't call my pottery rustic, but it's definitely overfilling my house...

Yesterday's pottery session. The pot was almost bone dry already so all I could do was clean-up. I have 6 animals/animal heads on the go but only worked on 3.

This seems an apropos pairing on my timeline....

Winnipeggers or those nearby! I am in this. The Friday evening coincides with First Friday shows for a bunch of galleries not too far away, the Saturday is family friendly hours.

It must be one of these.

Ailodein is a thief, mostly out of necessity, but he also feels more than a bit of "fuck you" to the system that kicked him out of his education early *because* he was stealing to eat. He notably doesn't steal when he doesn't have to. He gets into the ethics once with a wealthy court scholar:

Got somewhere, I think. Handle obviously needs some refinement; less obviously, so does the rim under the lid, which distorted badly when I put the spout on.

Post a photo from your camera roll that no one else has seen.

I had two big options for this, but the face paint comes in multiple colours and black is merely cheap, and this was overall both creepier and more looming, figuratively and literally. A tree imprisoning the oathbreaking dead.

(This character usually uses sign and struggles with forming words.)

Lots of things are white, the city is fairly pale and sunbleached, but this I thought said a lot; a drylands character having her first ever encounter with mist...

A whole character is purple! Most of his species is purple or violet, though we meet blue ones and even one edging into teal.

I mean, he goes about most of the story in the shape of a human himbo in a green coat, but his natural shade is still purple. And glows.

Having dug up green and purple quotes, I failed to post them.

Aside from the whole forest, most references to green are passing, like bits of outfits. The majority of the action isn't in the forest, but dry grasslands where only a river feeds crops. But there's a reason:

The Hartezeg is a holy relic, a chrysanthemum-like flower caught inside a chunk of quartz. If the person attuned to it can weep genuine tears of grief onto it, those tears gain healing power. This makes it valuable... but difficult.

Traditional unicorns are harsh and cruel and supremacist in this world. However, they have a rather crueller-looking relative, a creature with a symbiotic relationship to long and nasty thorns, who's ... actually a rather nicer being.

More of the studio session.

Yesterday's studio session.

What hate? You saw one picture of Kirby and decided you knew everything you need to know about it. If he'd posted this picture you'd have a very different snap judgement, (though you wouldn't have seen the "eats things to gain power" part that was relevant).

The last one made me laugh.

Random late garden photos. No tweaking but some cropping.

How it started vs how it went. Day 1 and today.

...I might be done? There are things I could have done better (or not at all...) but more in the realm of "next time" than "fix this bit".

(No need for audio for this video, any sound is incidental background like someone else's podcast and my chair)
