Groceries are cheaper if you do it the right way. First go to the oval office and give the president a fake award and tell him he's very strong and handsome. He will then call the grocery store and threaten them until they give you a discount. It's called the free market

If you don't know him, I will recommend the very beautiful, haunting poetry by Wilfred Owen on this Veteran's Day. Glad to see others have an interest in him as well!!
I always think about my favorite poet on Veteran’s Day—Wilfred Owen, a soldier who died in combat, who saw terrible things & transformed them into urgent, horrific, & beautiful words.

because it is not “sweet & beautiful” to die for your country.

JD's family has spent $35M on vacations.

Kash Patel used a $60M FBI jet to go on a date.

Trump spent $98M to golf for 24% of the days of this term.

ALL WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS.

But you think a single mom getting $6 a day for SNAP is the problem?

Joke of the day from Moscow: Russia tried to unveil its first humanoid AI robot, Aidol. Key word: tried. The robot collapsed during its debut, forcing organizers to cut the presentation short. Their rushed attempt to lift the prop only made things worse.

Folks on BlueSky spend too much time bogged down in small details. What we need to be doing is working together: progressives, moderates, liberals, and however else folks on the left identify. We all need to be focused on pushing back against Trump and defeating fascism. Not on fighting each other.

Uh... Chicagoan here. A few things: 1) It's MAGNIFICENT Mile. 2) It's not a shopping center. It's a mile-long stretch downtown. 3) I have no idea how a street could "call it quits" 😂 4) Vacancies started during & because of Covid. 5) Know what's TOTALLY empty? Trump tower retail space 1 block west.

Wealthiest, most powerful nation on earth, and yet we have more poor, more incarcerated, more folks in medical and education debt.

Everything in the system is geared toward the 1% having everything and the majority of us having little to nothing.

Thinking a lot about how poorly our brains recognize long term subtle changes, like climate change or biodiversity loss. We've lost something like 1 out of every 4 individual birds in the US since 1970, more for some species.

There should be at least 25% more birds around you right now.

A *lot* of indies (myself included!) who are wide are part of Kobo Plus because they don't ask for exclusivity like KU. Really encourage people to try it out.
Kobo is doing a 30 day free trial promotion for their Kindle Unlimited competitor service Kobo Plus for new subscribers (not sure if this is US only), if you like queer indie books, small press SFF, and backlist SFF from large publishers there's a lot to choose from on this service that's not on KU!

So yes. I am angry. I’m also a lot of other things

And maybe this is where I’ll sign off ❤️

It’s a shitty deal. I don’t think it’s as shitty as many think it is. I think we aren’t DOOMED. It’s *possible* that the Dems aren’t feckless cowards.

The GOP is the problem.

Let’s fucking go.
