In my dilettante opinion it’s probably not a good idea to assume a 30 point swing at the midterms but the directionality of the shift and the way R’s are going to have to spend money means a lot of Really Interesting tail scenarios start to appear.
Totally agree. My takeaways here are that turnout won’t be that bad for R’s in November, but the demographic shifts (at least directionally) portend Badness for them.

That and having to invest money where they otherwise wouldn’t. That’s what opens up the “weird but bad for republicans” to me.

this JSOU monograph actually addresses the core mistake activists make

when a social movement, broadly speaking, is in its offensive phase it has to focus on expansion at the cost of security. when it is hunkering down it

A noteworthy takeaway from tonight's Texas result is that the Republicans spent a metric truckload of money on this race. They spent millions more than the Democrats. The loss itself aside, this is a gigantic, flashing warning sign for the GOP's finances.

Broke my toe yesterday in a very dumb way. I was unloading some flooring tile out of my truck onto a dolly and wasn’t paying attention to the weight distribution and it flipped up and slammed onto my foot.

My big toe is purple and I’m gonna have to take the nail off today I think.

BREAKING: Federal judge orders Adrian Conejo Arias and his minor son, L.C.R., released.

"The Great Writ and release from detention are GRANTED."

"Civics lesson to the government: Administrative warrants issued by the executive branch to itself do not pass probable cause muster."

My word.
Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept."

Astonishing thing for a judge to do.

“The Center for Advanced Hindsight” you say

My ideal retirement is not to wither away on some beach, but rather to live in a college town and audit classes until they cart me out of the lecture hall feet first
Never mind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you took in college:
1. History of Science from Galileo to Newton
2. Kant's First Critique
3. Game Theory and Politics
4. Tolkien and Modern English Culture
5. Theological Hermeneutics
Never mind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you took in college:
1. Marine Biology (we got to go out on a boat!)
2. The History of the Holocaust
3. Logic and Critical Thinking
4. Eastern Religions
5. The French Revolution

Y’all need to go to church (broadly defined as: organization dedicated to mission separate from the state and larger than you personally) and deal with the Very Good people there that are Extremely Annoying.
people don't know how to handle a mostly virtuous person who is also massively annoying

Qanon existed as a kind of cognitive dissonance movement for child abusers and guys who mainline csam to not think of themselves as monsters
Qanon was never about taking down actual pedophiles and pursuing justice for victims. It was about smearing any and all prominent liberal figures while protecting and empowering actual pedophiles. Qanon was a movement of pedophiles, protecting pedophiles.

Arguably the whole concept of men declaring themselves "feminists" and/or "allies" got de-legitimized by how many predatory creeps convincingly acted the part only to later get busted for [long string of heinous behavior].
Like it's minor, but over on old miltwitter, the biggest sex pests were the accounts that publicly posted about helping women all the time.

One of the bigger creeps wrote a whole "guide to not being a creep online!"
