Anyhow nobody will acquire and distribute MY UNDESIRABLE FRIENDS, perhaps the most gripping, thrilling and relevant thing you could be putting out right now. But I know for a reliable fact every studio was falling over themselves to lose money on this movie
Amazon spent $40m to acquire this documentary (the next largest is, I think, Disney’s $12-15m for SUMMER OF SOUL) and is spending another $35m to market it.
On tonight’s White House agenda:

Trump and guests will get a private screening of MELANIA, the documentary about the First Lady, @thr.com reports.

Attendees include Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Mike Tyson, per the article.

I cannot emphasize enough that I do not give a shit who does and does not have immigration status here in the USA. Just absolutely not a useful descriptor of a person to me.

in 1973, basque separatists killed spain’s fascist prime minister with a bomb so powerful it launched the car he was in clear over a five story building. he survived the initial attack but died in the hospital

I continue to be grateful that my evangelical dad died before going full MAGA. It was probably inevitable, and I would be dreading to see him share his thoughts on the events of this week. He died still having a sense of humanity. MAGA sloughed that off long ago.

Guys nothing personal but if you rub your a.i. generated anti-ICE, anti-Trump memes in my face I gotta unfollow and mute you and also you’re dead to me.

It’s the sewage that fascism both shits and eats, it’s like blowing smoke in my face to show me how evil the tobacco companies are.

Remember how in Trump's first term folks would say that Trump's super power is he creates a permission structure for people to be their worst selves? Well, now those people are comfortable being their worst selves, and are running everything.
an administration staffed to the top with degenerate liars
Noem lies shamelessly: "An individual approached order Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic gun. The officers attempted to disarm this individual, but the armed suspect reacted violently. This looks like a situation where an individual arrived to inflict maximum damage and kill law enforcement"

"Immigrants law" is dumb. People should be able to live where they want to live. The GOP loves to call Democrats "the party of open borders", and man, if only that were the case.

There has NEVER BEEN AN IMMIGRATION PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTRY.

There has been a racist, nationalist fear-mongering problem in this country.

There has been an immigrant worker exploitation problem.

But there has never been an "immigration problem."

Nobody has ever been more correct than Michael Shannon immediately after the 2016 election.
The first quote got the headlines, but the second quote was pretty prescient about the rise of adult children going low/no contact with their evangelical parents.

Hey, film friends. I didn't see 28 Years Later. Should I see The Bone Temple, will I be totally lost? Personally, it doesn't look very appealing, but I'm intrigued by the positive responses to it that I've been seeing.

Out seeing Zootopia 2 (and The Testament of Ann Lee if I'm awake enough). Before Zootopia they showed a trailer for I Can Only Imagine 2, and I don't need to imagine, or see it, to know that the first one sucked, this will suck, and the only thing worse than a faith-based movie is a sequel to one.

Can't wait to find out what incredibly white name JD Vance gives this kid to try to appease his Nazi pals and offset the fact that he has a kid named Vivek. Aiden/Kaden/Braden? My money is on a girl named "Charlie".

People keep trying to diagnose Trump based on the wine-colored stain on his hand without considering the obvious answer. (It is a metaphorical representation of his sin he cannot scrub out no matter how hard he tries.)

My review of Sinners when I saw it opening weekend. I don't normally have the feeling in the moment that I am watching a new "major work". Took a while for that consensus to form. Happy for Coogler, still hope he can avoid making a sequel and it can just exist as a standalone film.

First year I can recall where I haven't any of the nominees for Best Animated Feature. Arco is the one I've been most interested in seeing.
Best Picture, there's 4 I've yet to see.

Oscar nominations tomorrow, meaning I'll finally have to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters. I actually heard a few of the songs for the first time today, and uh, they were extremely not my jam, but I'm hoping the animation at least surprises me.

Found this book at an antique store recently. 1978. Has an interesting version of what became Mickey's Christmas Carol, originally published in 1974 as a read-along LP. Much is the same as the 1983 short, but the ghost of Christmas past is Merlin and future is Snow White's Evil Queen in hag form.
