I don’t see it as a competition… it’s hopefully a tipping point, and a powerful potential collaboration and mutual inspiration between @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social in New York City, @wutrain.bsky.social in Boston, @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social in Seattle & many more mayors to come.

City leadership.
For the last several years, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was widely seen as the standard bearer for US urbanist reforms.

It’s now pretty clear that person is Mamdani.
Mayor Mamdani said over the weekend that he wants the Department of Transportation to add daylighting before someone has been killed rather than wait to ban parking at intersections after a completely avoidable tragedy. nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/01/05/m...

I am a non-seroconverter for the measles vaccine. This means I have no immunity to measles despite being vaccinated multiple times. By ensuring your vaccinations are up to date you help limit the spread of measles, which by extension protects non-seeocoverters such as myself
*sigh*

Reminder: Are your vaccinations up to date? Are your children's vaccinations also up to date?
If you were in Perth between the 6th and 27th Dec. 2025, check the measles alert and listed sites www.health.wa.gov.au/news/2025/me...

Excellent piece from @gelliottmorris.com on how your news diet affects your politics and how you view the Trump Regime. Those with a heavy diet of conservative media view Trump favorably, while those with a diet of non-conservative media view him unfavorably.

WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

On Jack Smith deposition, now released:

100% obvious why GOP refused to allow this as open testimony, aired live. It's damning.

Testimony from John Dean or Alex ("wiretaps") Butterfield in Watergate days would have 1/10th the impact if just in print.

What Smith says is far more incriminating.
