To the extent that there are daycares committing fraud in Minnesota or what have you, these kinds of things take place all the time! People sometimes do fraudulent shit! The President is a convicted fraudster! This is a local news investigative reporting story, not some national scandal.
That whole “Minnesota fraud” scandal is a completely made up racist lie and the media is eating it up and presenting it as if it’s a genuine scandal. I’m going to lose my mind

It's never too late to start wearing a mask.

It's never too late to stop using Chat GPT.

It's never too late to start supporting your community.

It's never too late to do better.

Let's be entirely clear, too, that the west global north isn't mad at Maduro bc he's "authoritarian" or "repressive" or "illegitimate". He IS all of those things, but the reason they're mad is because he nationalized a bunch of valuable shit that they think should be available to the highest bidder.

So when it comes to "grow community locally" stuff, here's something non-Disabled folks especially have to figure out how to counter.

There is a long-standing pattern where chronically ill people, even those who previously had extensive support networks and community, are abandoned and isolated.

Sincere question and I hope we can make a safe place for this discussion, are there people out there who feel like they don't know how to get involved and make a difference?

What do you feel like the barriers are for you getting involved in organizing?

Have you tried and failed?

Absolutely a misleading article/headline on their social media post. Reported.
From what I've read..his family is receiving death threats from right wingers.
The fraud charges appear to track to a leading white American woman, not a Somali person.
Charges are not tied to him and his withdrawal.

Thread I wrote up yesterday, that's still relevant today and will probably continue to be relevant.

THis is about pile ons, about internet behavior, about offline behavior, it's about so much.

Because we all need to take a deep breath, and a step back.
...Okay folks. I'm walking into Bluesky holding a pizza while everything is on fire and there's screaming.

So, let's grab the half empty fire extinguisher in the apartment hallway, and take a deep breath as the flames go out.

Another.

Good.

Hey, Southeast Boulder County — we have a fire. In the open space bounded by Dillon Road/Northwest Parkway, 104th Street, Empire Road, and US 287, so Lafayette and Louisville. If you’re in the area, locate your pets, their carriers, your important documents, and eyeball your laundry baskets.

The biggest splurge I’ve never regretted was getting my husband and I rabies vaccines. And then he got bit by a feral cat and it became relevant!

(Note to self, check titers this year)
For those that don't know: Rabies can be treated, but not after you show symptoms. Once you show signs of infection you are dead man walking.

I'm not familiar with thailand medical news, but the article seems legit and linked sources confirm what the piece discusses.

Lots of science-y language, but people are showing signs of malnutrition, a scenario discovered in 2022, and further research shows covid heavily impacts the gut microbiome.

That feeling when you're anxious about making an appointment and it turns out you actually made it months ago, you just had anxiety about opening the health portal app for some reason.

It's more important than ever to wear masks and do what you can to encourage businesses and orgs and individuals to improve indoor air quality. We already have too many unvaccinated people (especially kids) & it's only gonna get worse. Definitely ask people to mask up in healthcare situations.

The destruction doesn't make for a photo-op like tearing down the East Wing of the White House or bulldozing the Rose Garden, but it's every bit as bad. Generations of American children learned to spell and count, learned the Preamble to the Constitution, from watching shows produced by the CPB.

Snark aside, overall, focus on finding a group that fits your schedule, body needs, and advocacy desires to help one element of your current "AAAAAA" of emotions, while trying out various art forms to help another element of your "AAAAAAA"

The art doesn't have to be "good." That comes with practice and time. But it's still something that can help your brain with untangling the knot of emotions

And when it's not the right day for a meeting or event for one of the many groups out there laying the foundation for a better world? Art. Draw, write, sculpt, wood carving, knitting, crochet, sewing, just. So many options. Try them! Get the good art supplies if you can and want!

Those of us with unpredictable bodies may find regularly calling and writing letters to politicians an option. Or perhaps connecting with an environmental group to see if there's any indigenous plants that need some pre-spring seeding so they can be ready for planting later in the year.

We need to have outlets for our adrenaline, our anger, our fear, and our frustration. Outlets that don't involve people who could be hurt.

For some, it may be taking regular walks in nature, for others it might be joining a mutual aid group. Or an advocacy group.

We need to land in the middle. We have to be open and honest about the realities. We have to have an eye on the news and on legitimate voices.

But we also cannot turn our anger and frustration over it all into fighting over the smallest things.

At the same time, acting as though nothing is wrong? Acting as though we all have to positive in the current moment? As though there's nothing negative happening?

Well, that's an element of how toxic positivity is intertwined with fascism and high control systems.

Another deep breath, I swear I'm doing them as I type this all out.

All this running around, snapping at each other, flailing, that's what fascism wants us to do. They want us to fall for our worst coping mechanisms to trauma. They want us unable to do anything. They want us lonely.

Behind a majority of profile pictures is a person. A human. Someone who can hurt you, or help you. Someone who can be hurt, or helped.

Very rarely is this person why you feel like the world is about to collapse, and everything is breaking.
