figure it's time to make a pinned post to warn people.

i post about whatever the hell i want. this is a personal account and i like to talk. sometimes it's politics. sometimes it's horizon (the robot dinosaur franchise). sometimes magic. it is *never* bonus insider content for my day job.
as i understand it, there was a wave of jewish migration from eastern europe to nyc shortly before world war 1.

seems wise, tbh.
Genuinely curious: If your family is American, what brought them here?

If you campaigned for the presidency on a promise to destroy these assholes, you would win a landslide the size of FDR in 1936, when he campaigned on a promise to destroy these assholes.
Yes, Peter decided that the continued existence of our democracies isn't compatible with his desired level of personal freedom.

An absolute enemy of humanity.

if they were doing a job that was helpful or merely harmless, i would be bothered by this.

but these people decided to walk up to the devil, take the bargain, gleefully hurt innocent people, then be upset that the bargain was with the devil. so... fuck them. they chose to hurt people for profit.

hot take: tv shows were better when they had a week to breathe between episodes, instead of a year+ between seasons.

I’m convinced this is why they killed covid aid so quickly

It was breaking the narrative of government inability
How many times in your life have you heard a member of Congress or someone on TV say “we can’t afford it” when talking about something small but very important? It’s been happening my entire life. We can’t afford it? They’re putting seven times the annual budget of the EPA into immigrant detention.

fellow nerds: i want opalescent dice with some heft to them. none of this cheap lightweight resin nonsense. i want a satisfying tactile experience when rolling.

does anyone have recommendations?

i am simultaneously disgusted that these people exist and disappointed that i'm even more morally superior than i expected to be relative to the median human.

don't get me wrong, i like moral superiority, but i want to earn it through good deeds and care for fellow humans instead of... this.

assuming this is accurate identification (and i have no reason to suspect otherwise!), may these two face every possible social consequence, even if legal justice never catches up to them. may every business refuse service. may every neighbor ostracize them.

the confirmation of contemporary transphobia as a political movement has been the brainchild of a boys club made up of some of the most disgusting monsters in recent memory to explicitly keep trans women disenfranchised so as to subjugate and exploit us for their own sexual gain is like

there are multiple wow facebook groups that i've left now because they insist on letting genai slop all over their groups.

and like, i wasn't there because of my day job. i was there because i wanted player input in my own time. but i don't want it enough to put up with genai and it's defenders.

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.

watching today's pro tour stream, maria is once again dressed flawlessly. love the off the shoulder blue top and the chunky colored necklace. not why i watch, of course, but it's always nice to see.

mani's outfit is pretty slick today too. if only everyone put this much effort into their attire.

ok, the pro player couple was adorable. luna and matthew? hope we see more of them.

i enjoyed the first one enough that i've preordered this one.
★ In this stellar second entry in the Captive’s War series, bestselling author duo Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, writing as James S. A. Corey, ingeniously expand on the worldbuilding of 'The Mercy of Gods.' This wows. @orbitbooks buff.ly/4JaSNsQ

still on the "watching pro tour coverage a day later" train:

seth mansfield's draft drama was great, imo. it would have been so easy to think in pack 2 after taking five or six elves that things are just different now. but he committed to the curve and the elf count. A solid watch.

was not prepared to cry at the pro tour stream twice.

the kai tribute was moving as expected, but to a lesser extent seeing the richmond convention center on video took me back to my judge career - that's where it started. and my judge career led into my game design career, of course.

my cats react to human-world noises in weirdly appropriate ways.

doorbell? they go to the door.

i ping my phone from my computer? they meet me at the phone.

generic alarm? they start to look around in a panic.

ffx music plays? emery walks off even if i remind her she can't walk to zanarkand.

me: hey this is a fun show i will watch it
streaming service: excellent, if you like it we'll autoplay it for you.
me: gosh i am tired. i will take a nap while watching.
ss: your show is ended. we will show you another show. and since you watched a lot of it that one time, we'll assume you love it.

now that the new season is out and i'm watching it: shrinking is the one show that is so good wendie malick is merely part of the ensemble instead of the absolute scene-stealer she is everywhere else.

Catherine O'Hara is as much of a "good in absolutely everything, no matter how good the thing itself was" actor as Philip Seymour Hoffman.
