I ride a bike therefore I care about cities. Also love rock climbing, RPGs, SFF, heavy metal & martial arts. From Wolastoqiyik territory, living in Anishinaabe territory. She/her but not a sonofabitch about it.

No it wouldn't lol
I feel obligated to point out that if cars worked this way, the same tech would also enable Cops/ICE/etc. to stop any car they wanted remotely, to say nothing of a potentially malicious hacker.

I get the sentiment but this is a terrible idea.
My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)

I stand with County Executive Calvin Ball as he signs emergency legislation today prohibiting privately owned buildings from being used as ICE detention centers.

Howard County chose dignity, accountability, and its people. Tune into our event now:

Worth the long drive through the snowstorm to do a striking clinic with a Muay Thai champion! (and hey, if SHE can brave the Canadian winter to get there, WE had no excuse) You can tell Fierce Martial Arts: apparently we'll be the ones rocking up to the Muay Thai gym in leggings, not shorts, LOL

Hoooo BOY the roads are bad right now #Ottawa. Just drove home from a class in Kemptville and lanes? what lanes? shoulders? what shoulders? Even the *highway* is obliterated. We attempted one exit ramp and bailed on it, decided to just keep going till we found one we wouldn't wipe out on.

OMG
"awwoo woo!"
Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

Okay TBS, if you want me in an office building to work, fine. But give me a GODDAMN desk. Give me a space I can go to, where I can maybe tack a silly cartoon to the wall. For FUCKS sake we at least deserve that. Not this Snow Crash-ass "book a desk every morning & haul your gear back and forth" shit

Get ready for traffic to get even worse this summer #Ottawa - federal public servants are going to be commuting 4 to 5 days a week now

I have zero bandwidth to develop the idea, but the last decade has given rise to a gulliblity style, where a source’s statement is treated as the story regardless of whether it’s true or plausible. It creates stories that are technically true but functionally misinformation. You see it everywhere.

Look. I'm NOT a conspiracy theorist. I'm not. But when I look at uncomfortable realities, it's difficult to refrain from drawing conclusions that sound like a crazy conspiracy.

This is a very slippery government. Whether it's a budget or a high-profile speech, best to read the fine print

Trying to decide what was more draining: teaching an hour long judo class to a dozen 7 to 11 year old kids, or spending the following hour and a half in the adult class doing sacrifice throws. 😂

Hey Siri, how can I simultaneously both enter and exit a mayoral campaign.
Ariel should stop badmouthing NYC Mayor Zorhan Mamdani.
An oft-repeated statistic says men apply for a job when they have 60% of the qualifications while women wait till they have 100%. Pretty sure that stat was debunked, but …

Several men seem to think that being Mayor is a suitable starter job for someone with no municipal experience. It’s not.

Today in "look, a study that shows what I pretty much knew from experience." You can pass all the laws you want: speed limits don't stop people speeding and distance laws don't stop people from grazing past my handlebars
New research finds negligible benefit from "minimum passing distance" laws requiring drivers to give cyclists space when overtaking them.

Protected bike lanes are far more effective.

This is one of my favorite optical illusions, because even when you know specifically HOW IT WORKS, it's still hard to make your brain believe it.

The image below is real-world video, but you're being tricked into believing it's an elaborate miniature by the DIORAMA EFFECT.

Let's talk about it.
