I ride a bike therefore I care about cities. Also love rock climbing, RPGs, SFF, heavy metal & martial arts. From Wolastoqiyik territory, living in Anishinaabe territory. She/her but not a sonofabitch about it.

So...the AI interface is COMPLETELY escapeable. It...has access to the company backend systems... Does it have write access? I wonder if it'll just execute SQL statements if I ask it to...

What a security clusterfuck.
This is also fun. Steve gets an insurance AI to give him a recipe for bolonese.

I'm genuinely gobsmacked by how much City staff dropped the ball on this one. Ignoring like five decades of public policy evidence in favour of whataboutist arguments that cement a status quo that kills more people every year.

Ah, delightful: had a jiujitsu black belt come visit our judo class tonight. We spent half the time showing her a bunch of sweeps and throws and then she spent the rest showing us how to do truly devilish things to people's joints. She was awesome and I hope she comes back. SO FUN.

Look, my most Gen X nerd who was 9 in 1985 and also a Transformers fan in 1986 and a Devo fan in my teens and adulthood opinion that I will go to the grave clutching is of course it’s “Dare To Be Stupid,” and if you disagree, well that’s fine. Weird Al is for everyone except Boomers, those bastards.
you are all fools the REAL music question that will cause intergenerational warfare on bluesky is actually: what is weird al's signature song?

I'm fairly robust, but if I had survived having the umbilical cord tied in a knot, cutting off my oxygen and blood supply during birth. . . strep throat woulda killed me real early. As it was, I remember having fevers so bad I hallucinated wildly at about four or five.
People always ask, "What would you do if you were born in another time period?"

With my health the answer is almost always, "Die before kindergarten."

Medical progress is the real deal, buddies.
before antibiotics did people just die all the time from everything?

100% and it feels like we’ve given the fuck up on it and just accept it societally. I long stopped counting cuz I used to count almost everyone I was out.

If we cared then regulations would have been changed for so many things a long time ago
Ride in a bike lane and glance into every car that you pass and you'll see an extremely high percentage of people staring at their phones. It's terrible and frightening
You would be freaked out if you saw 25% of drivers drinking a beer, right?

Using a phone is no different.

for some reason a whole bunch of things are lining up and today is Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras; and Ramadan starts tonight and Lent starts tomorrow. I don't know if that's significant or anything, but it's interesting.

So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.
It took only a 15-second clip of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt duking it out on a crumbling rooftop — made by A.I. with a two-sentence prompt and the click of a button — to draw swift outrage, and sizable fear, from Hollywood.

"It’s nothing short of terrifying," one scriptwriter said.
Why an A.I. Video of Tom Cruise Battling Brad Pitt Spooked Hollywood
A 15-second clip created by an artificial intelligence tool owned by the Chinese technology company ByteDance appears more cinematic than anything so far.

Interesting tool! (It looks car-centric but If you don't drive, you can add transit fares and set things like parking/gas to $0 - I just entered the amount of time I spend on the bike, and it calculated what that time was worth - although I don't really consider that time wasted) www.rtocost.com
