Also I'm pretty sure that the dairy tarriffs are on any imported amount OVER a certain limit which has (checks notes) never actually been exceeded

No it wouldn't lol
I feel obligated to point out that if cars worked this way, the same tech would also enable Cops/ICE/etc. to stop any car they wanted remotely, to say nothing of a potentially malicious hacker.

I get the sentiment but this is a terrible idea.
My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)

I stand with County Executive Calvin Ball as he signs emergency legislation today prohibiting privately owned buildings from being used as ICE detention centers.

Howard County chose dignity, accountability, and its people. Tune into our event now:

Worth the long drive through the snowstorm to do a striking clinic with a Muay Thai champion! (and hey, if SHE can brave the Canadian winter to get there, WE had no excuse) You can tell Fierce Martial Arts: apparently we'll be the ones rocking up to the Muay Thai gym in leggings, not shorts, LOL

Yeah I was not expecting it to get so grim out there! But it was a seminar I paid a lot to register for and there were three of us that all needed to get there so. . .

Hoooo BOY the roads are bad right now #Ottawa. Just drove home from a class in Kemptville and lanes? what lanes? shoulders? what shoulders? Even the *highway* is obliterated. We attempted one exit ramp and bailed on it, decided to just keep going till we found one we wouldn't wipe out on.

OMG
"awwoo woo!"
Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

A friend of mine quoted Snow Crash about YT's mom (in relation to this, in a group chat) and I was a little bit shook over the accuracy. The unassigned desks. The scrabble to prove you were at the *right* desk and logged in on time. AUGH, kind of terrifying

If they want us to go to a location, and us doing the work is not contingent on where we physically are, honestly I think we should be able to bill them for transportation at least. And parking. Definitely parking. There's a CLIMATE CRISIS people.

BONUS ROUND! We got rid of a bunch of our real estate and remodeled our offices to match a more diffuse, non-localized work style! So HOORAY! now that you have to come back to the office full time... here's a bunch of temporary, noisy "touchdown points," or you can fight for these eight focus rooms
February 6, 2026 at 4:31 AM
Oops! Did you book a desk but when you got there someone was in it? DRAMA! Did you schlep your laptop to the office but it doesn't connect to wi-fi? OOPS! go back home and try! Are you shivering after biking to work and now A/C is chilling you? Sorry, spare clothes are all back at home.

I am ALREADY tired of wearing my salt-and-grit-crusted winter boots through a full 9-to-5 day. My feet itch. I am ALREADY tired of finding places on the floor to stash things like shoes and snacks and packets of coffee. I am SICK of showing up to an office, then taking every meeting over Teams.
February 6, 2026 at 4:23 AM
Okay TBS, if you want me in an office building to work, fine. But give me a GODDAMN desk. Give me a space I can go to, where I can maybe tack a silly cartoon to the wall. For FUCKS sake we at least deserve that. Not this Snow Crash-ass "book a desk every morning & haul your gear back and forth" shit

When I realized I was operating a vehicle that had a backup beep 💀 Luckily I'm a decent driver, even managed to reverse the thing around a bend at one point. But I did NOT enjoy it.

I've long been baffled by the fact that I was "upgraded" at a rental place once during a move - from a cargo van to a 5-ton truck, with no special licence or anything (they had no vans available). Any goob can walk off the street and rent one of these and drive it around.
