Was not thrilled to walk out of my studio into some action with the tactical unit.

Absurdly dressed cops in war gear with machine guns.

They were just standing around wasting taxpayer's money I guess.

I have finished my studio kitchen. All the upper shelves were left over bits from last fall's trailer reno. I added a water filter for drinking water to the sink instead of the soap dispenser that it came with.

So I decided that we should go see Avatar 3 in the theatre with premium seats in 3D. We just rewatched 2 and it's just...meh.

But 3 will be our 1st movie in theatre since 2019. I expect the story will be also meh.

But it will be beautiful & I miss movie popcorn.

Watching a Fallow recipe vid for filet tartar and one of the comments is "ewwww. That meat is raw!!"

Interesting that the 2 most popular Canadian tv shows worldwide in the last decade prominently feature gay characters.

Yes!

The process is always the point and if the process is pointless then so is the result. This also goes way beyond art I think.

To create is to be changed.

I wrote a whole long diatribe on it once so it's nice to see the sentiment echoed by bigger voices

This should be standard for every transit system.

And they should have to do it twice a year, in July & January because the January trip will show the flaws in stark detail.
If I were Mayor of Ottawa, I would drive the @octranspo.com management team to Westboro, dump them on a random side street and give them 1 hour to get back to City Hall using only a Presto card

Whoever makes it back in time gets to keep their job

Seems like @brandonsanderson.com & I agree. Really good summary of the current situation.

I think most artists who have been making art for any period of time share similar views.

Art is the process and how it changes the creator. The creation is more important than the result.

Dead on. Alan Watts used to talk about this. "People seem to think we come into this world and are strangers to it, instead of coming out of it like apples on a tree." I think its in "Nature, Man and Woman" that he goes into our divorce from scent.

Kim & I were discussing people who use highly scented products, perfumes & air "fresheners" & I had a thought that their use is directly associated with a great disconnect from the natural world. In nature, things, including humans, have smells. Most people have been taught to avoid them at all cost

Because someone reminded me of it, I went back and read Mindkiller by Spider Robinson (1982)

It's just such a great book.

A proto-cyberpunk (2 years pre Gibson's Neuromancer) mystery. Wireheads, hacking big tech. Such fun.

Happy Groundhog Day! I am a fan of the absurdity of weather prognosticating rodents and celebrate Groundhog Day with my thermochromic linocut. The shadow is visible if the ambient temperature is <30°C and disappears when >30°C (and it’s a safe bet winter is over or you are overheating your home). 🧵

Alphabet had revenues of 385 billion in 2025.

68 million is 0.01%

A slap on the wrist with a feather
Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"?

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

There's literally no excuse for that horrible, horrible man but people with celiac (like me) and IBS are seeing a lot of ableist posts right now. Shit happens (literally) I've had several close calls in public, including while playing a gig.

Stick to his actions & policies.

Missed Connection:

I was driving home at 2:30. You were pulling out of a parking lot in your cybertruck. I gave you the finger. You drove by without noticing.

DM me so we can reconnect and I can make sure you see. 🖕
