Just a guy who did an antifascist drawing once, and used to tweet about Holiday Road. Also just a guy not actually named Nolan.

We have been taught for so long (my generation especially) that the biggest sin in life is to let someone get one up on you. So what? Life isn’t a contest; the people selling you that already consider you the pawns in their game. Empathy being destroyed is the death of anything good in human culture
This is literally the most sincere statement I have ever made online and ever will. I believe it to my bones and the day I stop believing it is the day I am no longer me, and I hope it’s the day I die.
My stomach and my mouth are currently at cross purposes regarding these chips, with one side arguing this will only make me feel like shit in a little while, and the other side rebutting with “so what?”
I think Trader Joe’s Thanksgiving Stuffing Potato Chips should be year round.

Cool. Fuck you to both my senators, in a state where weed has been legal for five years with zero negative repercussions.

You know that thing where scurvy breaks your collagen bonds and all the old scars open up? Is there a disease that causes all your recurring pains to flare up at once, or is that just “being almost 50?”

No offence to any of the English masters graduates who follow me or indeed the ones I know in real life, but what has gone wrong for someone to think that 'an English literature masters' is a thing you are doing for anything other than the love of English?

Sat in a restaurant last year listening to someone talk about how they were getting ChatGPT to do their assignments for *an English masters they were doing part-time*. I still think about it occasionally.
Dude in the row in front of mine on a flight is literally producing the entire marketing campaign of a _________ fellowship using ChatGPT. Coolio…

Honestly yes. Yes a thousand times. That’s part of why every iteration of Twin Peaks he’s done since makes it muddier and less certain what actually happened, instead of more so.

you see a similar thing with guys like Elon. they acquire money and acclaim but they still don’t feel “cool” in the way that they perceived their childhood bullies as cool. so they try to replicate the bully behavior, but it never quite lands.

it’s important to understand that Nate Silver’s entire consciousness is filtered through the lens of being a gross nerd his entire life. the opportunity to feel like he’s one of the cool kids is something he can’t pass up, it’s load-bearing for his dork psyche.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.
He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

Nothing ever ends these days which is part of the grueling daily grind just to exist.
Oh, even if the House accepts this deal, we're doing it all

One of those low key funny things about listening to older country is the cottage industry of responses to Wabash Cannonball, usually using the same music, about different train lines, and by the 60s, sometimes trucker routes!

The centrists in the Senate Democratic caucus saw that the country was rallying to the party in the 2025 elections and resolved that they would do anything they could to kill that momentum.

My candidate for Best Worst Beastie Boys line has to be “if I ate spinach, I’d be called Spinach D.” It’s sounds so stupid at first then it sinks in, then you say, “yeah but it’s still kind of wack,” then you say “and that’s why it works.”

Losers love losing, it’s how they win
weirdly honest messaging from the breakaway mod/institutionalist leaders who blew up the party strategy
they're explicitly giving up. "It wasn't working so we quit" that's the message

Like...I get wanting a general strike really hadly. In fact with it this clear our leaders won't hel0 us, a general strike might all we really have until going extreme but still, it is not our fault our leaders disastrously faiiled us. We should not be the ones that need to lead this
No. No. No. Fucking No.
They are sitying in office. We have seen over the last few decades that the opposition party has the power to GRODLOCK EVERYTHING when its the Republicans.
But Dems spent the last year punching hippies and making concessions.
It us abso-FUCKING-lutely on them.

This is on us. Americans are all still shopping, brunching, indulging, vacationing. Still not mass boycotting, daily protesting, general striking. then pissed off dems won't act with the zero power we did not give them. Grind all but critical small biz spending to a halt then we gripe

The base can handle some kayfabe but not when Republicans are torching the constitution and abducting people off the street.
There will be some "Wow you can't make these people happy" sentiment but what's really happening is the Dems are beginning to reap the consequences of not really believing in anything. Choreographed maneuvers, too clever by half talking points. People have just had it
