The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Do not let them lull you into compromise.

Getting rid of Bovino isn't enough.
Getting rid of problem agents isn't enough.
Getting rid of ICE isn't enough.

Keep fighting. Lives will continue to depend on it.

Well, that didn't take long. The Ellisons and company just got their grubby hands on Tik-Tok, and already people like a California politician and Billie Ellish are reporting suppression of their videos criticizing ICE.

It’s also the single issue on which police have any “opposition” to ICE: because ICE acts so brazenly it’s drawing way too much attention to LEO’s impunity and if they keep doing it they’re gonna back the tuned-out “moderates” into wanting an end to qualified immunity, screwing things up for cops
Yup. Basically the only difference between ICE and how LEO treat Black and minority people is ICE is playing by pre-camcorder rules. No attempt at all to avoid recordings or manage their public perception.

No facade of justified force or professionalism, just raw intimidation and brutalization.

Feels like ICE is trying to use Ye Old 20th Century Death Squad techniques, except they totally failed to account for the fact that social media is ubiquitous now and the regime still has basically 0 effective control over "bystanders posting constant video online of death squad movements."

"oh no, we successfully got Americans used to the constant specter of gun violence in their daily lives, and now they're not scared of OUR guns."
There's a video of protesters outside a Hilton last night, and some ICE goons point rifles at them, and the protesters don't move. You can almost see the goons bluescreen in that moment, like, they have zero plan for what to do next, when people are not 'properly' cowed and submissive to them.

‪Anyone who has read any of the dozen-plus books I have written knows what a deeply patriotic American I am.

But Europeans are on the right side here. The junta in control of the US right now is on the wrong side. of everything.

If I were not American, I'd be avoiding American goods and services.
France announced today it’s phasing out Teams, Zoom, etc. to be replaced with a French/European solution called Visio. The data is hosted on Outscale. Transcripts and subtitles are also handled by French providers. The target is set on 2027 for government agencies.

who knew trying to pronounce things as accurately as they were in their original language was bad? fuck me for pronouncing cairo il, taliaferro ga, regenstein, samsung, hyundai, pakistan, wien, köln, kintsuki, beijing, bowibu, stasi, kgb, houston street, and gestapo they way they're supposed to
The way he said "Gestapo" - not a typical American way of saying it. It's very telling. He's been studying, bet his Heil, Fürher and Papiere, bitte is good too.
Micro nazi from the land of formerly free speech, Bovino says if you call federal agents “kidnappers” or “Gestapo,” there will be “consequences.”

AND if you are a white person committing microagressions, which we know as people of color there's a high chance you are, you gotta get right about that before seriously thinking you can counter this white supremacist regime.
No question that in 2026, White folks are oblivious to the number of microaggressions they continue to perform.

Oblivious.

I’ve never heard of a “law enforcement” agency putting an officer who just killed someone back on the street under 24 hours. And that’s because all shootings are treated as homicides pending investigation. This is as clear a sign as you’ll get that DHS personnel enjoy practical immunity from murder.
CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting
