this admin is running on a "you can just do things" principle that is smacking hard up against the reality that, in fact, you CANNOT just do a lot of things. Like, physically in reality, you are incapable of those things.
“orders the military to seize ballot boxes” is even more load-bearing; there are more than 116,000 polling locations in the united states, more ballot drop offs, and two states are mail-first, that’s an enormous logistical effort
This would be terrifying if control was actually going to come down to a small number of closer races. But it’s not, and nobody frothing into a panic over it will internalize that load bearing part of the speculation.

I like that the horses also appear to be entertained

Ah jeez, James Van Der Beek. Dawson, Mox...this guy was THE guy of our youth. Rest in peace, fella.

I do the overreaction to time issues of always, always being early to things...because I was late to too many things and I HATED that. I'd much rather err on the side of early than late, so I always end up giving myself far too much time!

(Not sarcastic: this is exactly how you should deal with that kind of stupidity)

Nice

Tetris and jigsaw puzzles are my happy place! But if you tell me an event is at x time but another event is at y time and the times overlap and there is some travel time between them, I will have no idea how much time of y time I'll be able to attend. Time is my nemesis.

lmao

Yep. I also struggle with things like an hour being 60 minutes but having to subdivide that into quarters which should add up to 100 which makes it all a mess in my head. It's a processing thing for sure.

I'm lucky that mine is pretty mild; I can do shapes and sizes and volumes and visualizations just fine, it's the actual computations that mess me up. I still have to do times-tables on my fingers if I have to multiply something.

I did okay with trig and geometry, but anything like algebra and calculus was just. Impossible for me. And so much of the advanced science courses lean so heavily on that that I was automatically just eliminated from them. It was rough. Your youngest sounds like she found an awesome path though!

that is so awesome. I remember the shame of dropping that pre-med concentration. UGH. I know dyslexia gets a lot of attention, as it should, but I wish there was more understanding/assistance around the math disabilities. Interestingly, I also still struggle reading analog clocks...

I didn't even hear it during the downhill ski! I haven't watched the indoor footage though, I bet you can hear it more inside.
February 11, 2026 at 1:53 AM
The downhill ski footage where they are right on the tail of the racers was so insane I almost got dizzy!
February 11, 2026 at 1:52 AM
So much sneering. Now I work in STEM and build and maintain super-complex computer infrastructure and systems, because hey, it turns out algebra wasn't actually necessary for that, who knew. Still wish I was patching up animals instead, which, afaik, also does not require algebra.
February 11, 2026 at 1:51 AM
oooh, do you have dyscalcula too? I was pre-vet, crashed so hard out of the chem requirements in college I almost ragequit entirely, and then went to English and Music degrees because I literally could NOT do the math. I had a perfect score in the lab class, and FAILED the lecture class.

The drone footage of the speed Olympics events is SO. FREAKING. COOL.

Curling is fine and all, but if you happen to be browsing around on Peacock it is literally ALWAYS on live. What the hell are they doing over there in the curling rinks??

it looks like she is not on the site yet, probably because she is so new with you! I will give her the link. She is SO perfect, I cannot imagine she'll have much trouble finding the most perfect place. I'm absolutely enchanted with her myself!

I have a good friend who is looking for a small dog to adopt. How would she go about looking at and applying for this little gem of a creature?

I can only back Maryland if we can loop in the whole DC Metro with it, because NoVa and DC are part of the awfulness too.
