One of the things that really fucking annoys me about AI is that people *do not understand it* (on purpose, bc these companies want it that way) and they assume it’s as reliable as the computers they’ve been using their whole life when it’s actually about as reliable as your least capable intern

Dear Minister,
I am writing to you following the High Court's decision in our challenge to the interim guidance of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
In its judgment, the High Court makes clear that service providers are not obliged to exclude trans people from gendered spaces and services. Trans women may, for example, be permitted to use women's toilets without service providers also being required to allow men to these facilities.
This runs directly contrary to the description of the law set out by the Commission in its draft Code of Practice which you are now considering. In the version of the draft set out for consultation, the Commission claimed that a service (including toilets) provided only to women and trans women would be 'very likely to amount to unlawful sex discrimination' against men. But the High Court has said that this is not true.
The draft Code of Practice is wrong about the law. It does not explain that service providers may lawfully remain trans inclusive. In those circumstances, you must reject it - or you will be acting unlawfully.
Notwithstanding this decision on the substance of the law, the High Court dismissed the challenge. The High Court found that the EHRC's interim guidance, stating that "any single-sex lavatory provided will cease to be single-sex if [trans people] are permitted to use it other than in accordance with their biological sex" had been widely misunderstood. It did not in fact prohibit, for example, the provision of women's toilets which could be used by cis and trans women. This enabled the Court to conclude that the interim guidance was

In the 1800's this was identified as the Urinary Leash bc there were very few public toilets made for women at the time for reasons of "protection and decency"
It served to trap women by keeping them out of public life and dependent
