reminds me of the last ep of University Challenge I watched where a contestant misidentified a photo of vanessa bell as being virginia woolf and paxman really sneeringly responded like it was the dumbest mistake you could possibly make.

got a strong vibe that paxman didnt have a clue who she was
Gascoigne: "Bad luck, the capital of France is 'Paris'!"
Paxman: "No, I wanted [reading these words for the first time in his life] 'Khertek Anchimaa-Toka'. Obviously."
Rajan: "I can't accept that I'm afraid. It's [you miss the answer because you're dazzled by the studio lights off his huge watch]"

does serve to draw into focus how his trajectory really was giving 'dickens minor antagonist'
was not expecting the introduction section on the dilbert wikipedia to conclude quite this brutally holy SHIT

i mean there's a lot i wish labour were doing strategically but the 'open borders' line they love so much just does not work. feel like it entirely possible to articulate what was actually so corrosive to public trust (which was saying one thing while doing another)
No 10 says Jenrick was an open borders pro-immigration minister while PM says he was toxic + divisive.

i feel like cleverly would be well placed to win a GE, just the barrier between him and doing that is, er, probably the entire tory party membership
January 15, 2026 at 1:50 PM
Not cute. Robert jenricks only do this when they are VERY distressed

fundamentally the sector is funded by scamming financially illiterate children
This is clearly depressing and radicalising in a way a tax wouldn't have been.

genuinely think future historians will think of eminem as a folkloric robin hood figure - and they'll be right to!
I am obsessed with the Eminem AI posts now. It’s crazy

Still furious about the media reporting that Couzens 'tricked her' into getting in the car. He didn't trick her! He arrested her! Using his warrant card! It wasn't a trick, it was an illegal arrest and calling it a trick is one step short from victim blaming.
The 'give ice qr codes' thing reminds me of when Sarah Everard was murdered by a real policeman using his real police id to kidnap her, and the police & gvt made out the solution was to have a helpline to check that the person bundling you away was a real policeman (as the murderer was)

Giving MechaHitler access to classified military networks is literally insane.
Hegseth brags about adding Grok on "every unclassified and classified network throughout our department"

Was thinking (as the RSC launch a tour, Riz Ahmed Hamlet drops a trailer and Andrew Scott gears up for Elsinore) that we have reached peak Hamlet.

But tbh it really is the play for our time. what better story is there for ‘the world is very obviously fucked up but no one has any idea what to do’

Labour can extend this beyond X and start going after Reform politicians making money from the site. "Will Farage give back the money he made from this sex offender site?" Etc...
Has there ever been any poll showing the public this united? yougov.co.uk/technology/a...

if i was an mp, i’d be laser focused on delivery and grasping the nettle of reform instead of posting
If I was an MP, I'd be all over Facebook, posting in all the local groups. It's where actual voters are. I wouldn't be on X (or on here, frankly).

Gamergate 2 will be the pro AI streamer-adjacent gamers vs the anti AI tabletop gamers
The Games Workshop results are interesting (and very honest) on AI and tariffs.
AI: not that exciting. Tariffs: much more manageable than expected.

1 - Bloodborne
2 - Dark Souls

3 - Hades
4 - CO Expedition 33

5 - Wolfenstein TNO
6 - Dishonoured
7 - KotOR
8 - Mass Effect

9- Oblivion
10 - GTA 6
Of the 31 games that won the 'now' votes, rank as many as you can. That could be just voting for your favourite, or a top 3, or 10, or just go mad and rank all 31.

I will NOT count ties
I will NOT count the same game in multiple ranks
