'Pears.' (1880) Émile Zola once commented: 'Even the most determined enemies of Édouard Manet’s talent admit that he paints inanimate objects well.' Unlike the paintings he sent to the Salon year after year, Manet’s modest still lifes were universally admired in his own time.

so just between the two of us, and after this i’ll never mention it again, you know how you spend your entire work day complaining about how tough your, tbh, comparatively gentle workload is….is this because you actually find it hard or is this a strategy honed over years to guarantee a low workload

I can't say at all what I mean - the gift of expression seems to have left me, so you must guess.

I remember not being able to read and looking at a billboard. "Don't know what that says" I thought.

Now I don't have a choice in the matter, and I have to learn about a limited edition burger because of my treacherous eyes.

This game/film series apparently required players to download a new one minute chapter *every day for a year* and if you didn't beat the prior chapter you didn't get access to the next. They must have had five players by the end, at best.

Engaging in dialogue with all stakeholders is what gets me through the day. I like to think of myself as a vast, safe harbour, and of them as little boats. If a stakeholder told me they didn't feel listened to, I think I'd have to go to hospital.

they‘re free to waste their time how they wish but what’s so frustrating is the implication that there isn’t a wide range of debate on the left itself. even with the most fundamental left positions i still see people questioning them & while i don’t respect attacks on king charles iii they do exist.
these people seem like idiots
