Every day from now until Christmas (if I remember), I'm going to post a really weird Christmas song here.

I'm going to start with this one, mostly because I like to imagine the parallel universe where J-pop is as big in the West as K-pop, and this gets played in supermarkets youtu.be/iHYKlPLQgS0

As a man, I don't think it's my place to judge the actions of women. Who am I to call them "villains"? Maybe, if we sat our asses down and listened, we would learn that there were perfectly understandable reasons why these strong, smart, beautiful women acted the way they have.
(6'1 btw)
Share a great female villain!

It’s really awful that the Byzantines would ritually mutilate former rulers to keep them from taking the throne again but on the other hand this did mean no one had to suffer through episodes of the Nikephoros Bryennios Podcast Hour.
Liz Truss, who served 44 days as UK prime minister, goes full Curtis Yarvin.

Interviewing Yarvin on her new podcast, she calls for overhauling UK government to fit his vision.

“I agree with you, having spent 10 years in the system, you need to start from scratch,” Truss tells Yarvin.

The only thing I'll agree with here is that a bunch of random airline pilots with the nuclear codes probably would be better at governing than Liz Truss

I'm so glad that the goat finds novel fates every year. It'd be boring if it just burned down, but getting blown down by the wind or eaten by birds keeps things fresh

Reading a book about witchcraft and witch trials. What do we reckon the odds are that MAGA tries to get an official government witch hunt agency set up before 2029?

It’s crazy to me there’s not been *one* decent intervention by a senior politician on AI, what it’s for, should be about and our society. Unless I missed it? It’s just people saying ‘productivity’ and ‘jobs’ with literally no thought, thinking or ideas. But then I suppose same on everything.

Genuinely amazing levels of Peter Hitchens. I don’t know how but he always manages to find new and impressive ways of sounding like Evelyn Waugh writing a letter to Viz.

(What was the larger socialist party in the 1940s? Common Wealth Party peaked at 15,000 members, Labour Independent Group wasn't a proper party. The Communist Party briefly peaked around 55,000 members in the early 40s, after the USSR joined the Allies - is that who Sultana is talking about?!)
Now, more than ever, we need a CEC that will fight for a party led by its members — not MPs or bureaucrats.

bizarre factoid i got reminded about the week is that one of the biggest early pioneers, proponents, and public spokesman of the polygraph was william marston, the creator of wonder woman, so it's directly tied to golden lasso of truth and marston's whole, uh, deal

It's not a podcast unless you listen to it on an iPod
It's only a podcast if I can listen to it via any podcatcher that picks up RSS feeds.
A video is not a podcast.
An audio performance that I can only hear on one app or website is not a podcast.
‘Painful to hear!’ How podcasts’ rush to video is turning them into dreadful listens
